Forrest-Martinez in August (maybe)

    A match between WBC super welterweight interim world champion Sergio “Maravilla” Martínez and WBC super welterweight champion Vernon Forrest is in works for August in Forrest’s hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. The winner will be recognized as the WBC regular champion. The WBC says Forrest must fight Martínez in his next defense and will not be able to carry out any fight before August 1. Forrest had planned to fight Jason Lehoullier on Friday but withdrew citing a rib injury.

    about time. And i moved to Atlanta about a year ago, no live fights here to speak of in recent years. I'd definitely go to this.

    Martinez is quicker and busier and should be able to win a UD against this aging version of Forrest. But you can never count a crafty veteran like Forrest out.

    I will be there. Atlanta has never been a Boxing town. Had the Ali/Quarry fight in 1970 a few Holyfield fights and not much else but local shows since then.
