    How did you have it?

i think it is weird in a way because there where times in the fight when forrest would unload a big combo, land every punch, and mayorga would just eat it up and throw some wild punches, yet it seemed that those moments where being scored towards mayorga.

how dd you guys have it?

I had it 7-5 Mayorga. You could also have it a draw, or 7-5 Forrest... but I laugh when ppl say Forrest was "robbed" in that fight.

mayorga had a massive mental advantage that forrest couldnt handle

I should rewatch this fight. I fell into the charm of Mayorga and wanted him to win so I was happy with the decision, but I felt dishonest about it. I didn't fully appreciate Forrest at that time and neither did the mainstream press.

I don't remember my scorecard right now, but I scored it for Forrest by a wide margin.

I thought Mayorga won. Forrest fought a good fight, but Mayorga was about as bad a style matchup for Vernon as you could get. Forrest did show his brilliance in spots during this fight, but Mayorga was a very hungry fighter and fought a very determined fight. Mayorga showed some boxing ability in this fight too and he has more skill that maybe he is given credit for. As far as great fights in the last 20 years go, that time frame where Forrest, Mayorga, Vargas, Oscar, Shane, Winky, Trinidad and all these guys were fighting these guys would always deliver and it was a good time to be a boxing fan. I think if Vernon was around today, there would be a good chance that he would still be one of the top dogs in the Light Middleweight picture. RIP champ.

I wanted Forrest to win badly in the rematch cause of the comments by Mayorga for saying very personal stuff about Forrest mom. But honestly i thought Mayorga clesrly won that fight. I had it 116-112 for Mayorga. He was the aggresser and he landed the hard blows. Forrest was too busy running scared instead of winning on points.

Mayorga won the fight 7-5 rds. It was there for Forrest to win but he was very cautious exchanging with Mayorga. As someone else said Mayorga had a huge mental edge over Forrest. Mayorga in the end did enough to win as the champion.

The last time I saw it I thought Forrest may have won but Mayorga toke his best shots and begged for more. Mayorga not only won the mental battle in the rematch but also ko'd him in the first fight. As much as I am a fan of Forrest I can't argue with anyone giving the second fight to Mayorga. I haven't scored it yet so I don't know who I would score it for. I've seen the fight like 3-4 times though.

Not quite sure how there can even be controversy here, Mayorga won a clear decision....

the thing is, the times when mayorga LET forrest unload on him, by rights it should be scored to forrest, but amazingly mayorga still seemed to be getting the best of it.

the fight was lost by forrest mentally before he ever stepped into the ring

I had it 7-5 for Forrest. Espn news and Max Kellerman had it 8-4 for Forrest. Forrest, control the fight with his jab, Mayorga while game was just looping his shots and not connecting for the most part.

Yeah, you kinda think ''that's so badass you have to give him the round''.
