Id be interested in seeing anyone who scored it for forrests actual score card round by round, thats just bizarre to me to be honest. There wasnt even a question if i can recall of it being that big of a mystery who was going to win after the 12th round. If someone has the time who scored it for forrest and give a round by round score of who won which round id love to see it.

here is a classic clip, one of my favourites in boxing.

just watch it and ask yourself, who would you rather be in that ring.

Mayorga won. He was a beast at 147 and gets very underrated now.

i don't think so. those forrest mayorga fights were the biggest choke jobs this decade. but i still had forrest winning the 2nd fight 7-5. it was a sad fight though, timid, past his peak, etc.

i suppose someone as fast as floyd could make a boring fight out of it like spinks did. but prime 147 vs mosley, odlh, cotto, tito he would be atleast competitive.

his shots are too wide, floyd would nail him 3 times before floyd ducked out the big wide shot.id like to see pac v mayorga for pure mahismo although theres only 1 winner the pacman by tko/ko before 7.

i stated before a quick boxer could win a boring decision over him, but anyone who came to fight, it would always be competitive with his chin and power

Forrest gets excused out of his Mayorga losses more then anyone ive ever seen :-(

    - "Oh... oh, for the first fight, he didnt show Mayorga enough respect''
    - "Oh.... those were just big choke jobs"
    - "Mayorga had him mentally beat in the second fight, he didnt really beat a good forrest''

    Bull****.

Forrest came out to blaze Mayorga in the first fight, and got dealt with. He came to try and box mayorga in the second, and got dealt with. An in shape, prime mayorga will always be Forrest's nemises.

And yes, the mayorga that showed up in the Forrest 1, Forrest 2, and Spinks fights would be competetive with just about any welter outside a few ATG's.

i agree and disagree with you here kirk. he did genuinely beat forrest twice. he would competitive with most welters. and he did deserve the second victory.

but it is also tru that forrest was mentally beat before stepping in the ring. that isnt a discredit to mayorga, it is a credit. he got under forrests skin which nullified any technical advantages forrest might have had.

If that was the case, every boxer with good skills (forrest, spinks) should have had an easy time with Mayorga.... but saying hes got wide shots, and actually dealing with him in the ring are two different things. Mayorga would give Mayweather hell on his aggression, heavy hands, strength size and stamina alone. Mayweather would have to be the favorite, but it would be competetive.

And IMO, theres little, little chance Pac stops Mayorga had they fought.....

Mayorga didnt even get phazed till he fought a 160lb Trinidad.... in a fight Mayorga was dealing with jail, leaving nicaruaga and a **** case. And it took Tito a whole fight of pure flush power punches to wear Mayorga down and he still couldnt put Mayorga to a the canvas until he started going for his body.

If Pac is able to utterly destroy Margarito, Mosley style.... I might change my mind, as of now, no way do i see Pac stopping a primed, in shape, 147lb Mayorga.

When was Forrest mentally beat? Sure as well not before their first fight when he came out about as happy and confident as any fighter ive seen, having a minny concert on his way to the ring and going right at Mayorga with an onslought most other opponents would have crumbled under.

If he was beat for the second fight, its only because he knew Mayorga had already tasted his best and he knew it deep down. And so who cares?

    The better fighter settled. Period.

    - If someone wants to say Forrest was beat for the second fight, its only because he had it beat out of him in the first. In which, Mayorga showed he was more then Forrest could handle, so the point is mute.

    - If someone wants to say that Forrest didnt take Mayorga seriously in the first, then he would know that, and would have no reason not to think he couldnt beat Mayorga in a rematch, and wouldnt have been beat in the second. In which, Mayorga still won. So the point is mute.

Any way someone wants to slice it or excuse it, Mayorga beat him twice, against two different gameplans, and there is little left to the imagination on how these two fair against eachother.

    imo

    for the second fight obviously.

you gettin a bit defensive here.

im not discreditting mayorga, as i said it is a credit that he did get under forrests skin. he kicked the **** out of him in the first and let forrest know he planned on doing it again, forrest was scared in the rematch. which meant half the battle was already won by mayorga.

there is little left. he kayoed him and outpointed him. he is better than forrest h2h. no doubt. anyone saying otherwise is a moron.

My bad man not trying to come off as defensive :good I just dont understand the constant excuses and posturing that comes when this fight gets mentioned.... But i guess there will always be excuses for every fight and every fighters loss for the most part, i know ive made them here and there so i suppose its just a natural thing and i should know this by now.

anyways, both fights are good, Forrest really came to bang in the first one and of course Mayorga made the second one entertaining.... underrated little gem that first one.

    Absolutely, spot on.

It was weird, in that while Forrest may have been doing the better work, he looked BAD doing it. He was terrified, and it showed with his body language. Mayorga would land clubbing blows on Forrest's shoulder and Forrest would flop and fall all over the place---he just looked bad.
