Hey bro - you're one of the most sensible posters on this forum so let's not fall into the trap of telling people they don't know how to score. Let's keep it friendly here. :good I lost my money betting on Rampage - but I thought Griffin won the fight so there aren't any rose-tinted glasses covering my scorecard. You guys are tripping yourselves up talking about MMA using boxing scoring - because that is not the case. It is the TEN POINT MUST SYSTEM which simply means the winner of the round MUST BE AWARDED 10 POINTS. The other fighter is awarded whatever value the judge so desires with the default value being a 9. In boxing a knockdown is almost alsways scored as a 10-8 round - but THAT IS NOT PART OF THE RULES. The judge can award a 10-8 round without a knockdown and can score a round with a knockdown a 10-9 if they so choose. The judging is always subjective and solely based upon each individual's preferences. Some give more credence to ring generalship while others base it solely on who they think scored the most damage. In MMA you have other variables like submission attempts and takedowns. Personally I group them under the banner of ring generalship as the one scoring takedowns and shooting for submissions is usually the one controlling the fight. Griffin was winning round one handily until Rampage knocked him down thus winning the round for Jackson. I thought Griffin put in enough work through the beginning of the round to win the round barring the knockdown - so I only awarded Rampage a 10-9 round.
I think thats the way it should do and it should satisfy people and it would be more sure but some folks are going to complain anyway.
yeah, that was a Rampage round for sure but not a 10-8 like his coach said, Forrest was winning the round until he was knocked down.
