Forrest explained how the morning of the weigh-in of his first fight with Mora, he woke up SIX POUNDS OVERWEIGHT!!! But he worked it all off that day only to be flat against Mora the next day.

The second time around, he worked out three times a day, and had made weight all week. The results paid off.

Makes you wonder how unprofessional Guzman and Castillo have been in past fights.

I wouldn't be suprised by that at all. Sounds like excuses, but he looked genuinely ****ed in that first fight. He had no stamina or snap at all, he didn't even throw punches.

Everybody knew he was a class apart from Mora and that was just a terrible night.

Whatever he said about the first fight I truly believe, his performance in the rematch showed it and he also said before that rematch that if he loses this time he loses fair because he's coming physically and mentally 100% this time. The result is the proof.

That's still no excuse to lose to Sergio "C Class" Mora.

As long as vernon is half the fighter he was in his prime, he will always soundly beat Mora's ass.

It was quite funny to see Vernon as the 'arrogant winner' (his words) in the postfight pressconference, after all the **** Mora talked pre-fight.

That's kind of the point. He should've never lost to Mora, no matter the circumstances.

It's like if you got dropped by Paulie Malignaggi...no excuses, that's just sad.

Don't blame boxing or Mora for that though- all he did was fight hard and win a title over a guy who he, under most circumstances, shouldn't have had the ability to beat. That's on Forrest, and even though the loss is avenged, it still doesn't look pretty no matter how it's sliced.

The outcome of the first fight is purely on Vernon for getting overconfident. Why begrudge a fighter (Mora, in this case) for actually wanting to win and pulling it off? Seems like misplaced frustration to me.

Luckily 154 is so wide open now that the lost time shouldn't affect Forrest too much as far as matchups are concerned, at least. I'm sure he's learned his lesson about taking guys lightly as well.
