Given that many, myself included rate Belting Bob above Michael Spinks, how would Foster have done against the Jinx,s best opponents? Yaqui Lopez tk7 Marvin Johnson ko7 Mustapha Muhammad w 15 Dwight Qawi w 15 Opinions please.
Two Spink's opponents stand out to me giving Foster difficulty...Mustafa Muhammad and Qawi...Eddie was a durable light heavy and a very good puncher. Not as good as Foster, but good...If motivated, he was a hard go for anyone. He hurt Spinks badly a time or two in their fight. I'll take Foster over Eddie though...by decision. Qawi? I honestly feel Dwight is a very hard fight for Bob...Why? Mobility...or lack of it in Bob's case... I think Qawi would be able to come forward and crowd Foster, making him fight up close...Foster would be able to leverage some good power shots(uppercuts) and he would hurt Qawi...But Dwight is very physically strong and paired with his aggression, and Foster's lack of mobility. This would lead to the fight being fought on the inside, Qawi territory..I think Qawi would take this..IMO
All of them would give Foster problems, specifically Qawi and Lopez, who would take Bob to the final bell.I could honestly see Mustafa out by the tenth round, if Bob catches him good with that left hook.
Don't forget that in Foster's time, they did n't have the weight building techniques that Michael used to bulk up to the higher weight.
I could see Foster kayoing the overrated Mustafa Muhammad in 13 rounds, shutting out Qawi, having a battle before stopping Johnson in 11, and taking out Lopez in 12 rounds.
Foster never lost as a lt heavy. The guy was brutal at 175. His jab was harder than most lt heavy right hands. I think Qawi does the best but loses a decision. All others are stand up boxers including Spinks and I don't see them getting around that jab.
Mike never lost at 175 either. People forget that. Also, who had a better resume? I believe Qawi would have beaten Bob too.
With all due respect Titan, what have you been smoking? Impossible to knock out. Boxer-puncher; his losses were virtually all due to HIS problems (to be fair, many greats of the past had their issues as well) IMO had he stayed focused, and not ballooned up like an idiot to fight Snipes only to have to hit the steam room just to make the weight against Spinks he would have taken that one IMO. But to call Eddie "overrated" is inane to say the least.
