It's the other way round, Tyson is all wrong for Ali. Tyson is a far superior version of Frazier, and with 2 hands.
We are talking about prime Tyson here, the 88 version, not the version that Douglas faced. 90 Tyson was not prepared properly and had turmoils in his personal life. As for Ali's wins that you mentioned: - Liston was in his early 40's when he fought Ali. He went into their first fight carrying a shoulder injury and barely trained. Took a dive in the second. - Frazier only had a left hook and he was partially blind in one eye since the late 60s. Frazier beat him in their 1st fight. In their 2nd battle, Ali CHEATED by holding Frazier’s head throughout the entire fight (should have been deducted points) thereby taking away Frazier’s inside fight game, and got the decision. In the 3rd fight, Frazier was completely washed up. - Foreman gassed out in the scorching heat of Zaire.
In such fights, sentiments and CVs always count. I consider Ali to be the best HW in history next to Joe Louis. In terms of resume, Tyson is not even close. I also think that Ali FOTC is highly underrated, it was one of the best fights of his career. maybe in two or three he could have been a bit better, it's hard to say. But with the explosive Tyson from 1986, who was focused and determined, he would have literally walked through a minefield. I think Tyson and it wouldn't last too long. Ali stayed too much against the ropes, rested too much and took in too much to stop Tyson
Do we have independent verification for the claim Joe Frazier was blind in one eye? As to clinching you can easily slip a clinch. You said you were a professional boxer. Surely you will taught how to slip a clinch or prevent a boxer from clinching you. As to the Thrilla if Frazier was past it so was Ali. As to the Rumble Ali beat Foreman every way imaginable. As to Miami Beach Liston he was coming off not one but two demolitions of Floyd Patterson, a bubble top twenty all time great heavyweight.
I think Ali in the 70s started to get hit far too much and against Tyson that may be a big problem. But Tyson would probably have to fight at a pace he never had to since he isn't a rangy fight or clincher so one might ask if he would keep the pace up.
Ask our friend if Mike couldn't destroy The Fighting Cowboy how is he going to destroy Ali. Ali had sixty one fights and was only destroyed in one of them when we was old, sick, and had Parkinson's Syndrome.
I think that's probably a fight which Tyson won but it was closer than expected. I haven't seen it a while but I never felt Tyson was anywhere close to losing against Tillis.
If it wasn't for the knockdown in the round which Tillis was winning, the fight would have been scored a draw. It was damn close.
I know what the cards said I didn't feel it was that close though. I will give it a rewatch since it was 2014 when I last saw it.
