FOTC Frazier v Tokyo Douglas?

Tell you what you can do if it suits you. Take any 2 of Bugner's " average " fights ( 15 rounders if you like ) and come back and tell me he threw and LANDED as many shots in both combined as Douglas did in those 10 rounds against Tyson.

I expect more than just his " defensive " jab though.

 

Difference is that Tyson was not prime Tyson. Add to this any Tyson when faced with adversity was a much less effective a fighter. Here we have prime Frazier at or near his best. Certainly the most highly motivated Frazier. He does not get discouraged and he will be making Douglas miss a huge percentage of his shots just like he did with Ali in 71. Also Douglas does not produce the output of punches Joe saw from Ali so Joe has to work less to get inside. Competitive early but very one sided late. A fight between a fringe ATG and a one trick pony.

Both Rudduck fights Tyson was ahead pretty much at all times during each bout. It was Tyson doing 90% of the punching and Rudduck taking a beating. Tyson was ALWAYS a front runner and head case. There is plenty of evidence to support this plus you have his ex trainers who will tell you as much. Tyson cried like a baby so full of self doubt as an amateur. This carried over and showed itself the times he did face true adversity in the ring. You have a huge distorted viewpoint concerning Joes bout with Mathis. It was competive early and Joe dominated late. Watch the rounds preceding THE KO. Ali's punch rate in his fight with Frazier easily outpaced anything Douglas ever did. Douglas was a bum in reality who had one great night against a less than top shape Tyson. Douglas is not beating prime Frazier.

You have reading comprehension issues. I wrote that a proposed bout with Douglas would be one sided LATE (as in later on in the fight). What the final scoring was for Joes KO win over Mathis is meaningless as it relates to how one fighter or the other dominate LATE. In this specific case joe dominated Mathis LATE as he would have dominated vs Douglas.

 

Muhammad Ali was definitely rusty. He had only seen 2 fights in 4 years and looked flat footed in his very last outing with Bonavena. That said I still think even that version of Ali was better than any rendition of Douglas who didn't have Muhammad's strong mental fortitude, stamina, speed or chin anyway. So yes I think Frazier breaks down Douglas late and either stops him or wins a convincing decision.

 

How many shots did Tyson take in the Ruddock fights, one or two power shots a round???

Don't know where you got that rubbish from but Ali threw more shots than Douglas and that is a fact, maybe the reason Ali took rounds off against Frazier is because he was up against a pitbull that would not stop coming forward and throwing relentless body and head shots....

 

Those fighters you just listed were leagues above the likes of Bey, White and Ferguson though, of course someone as re****ed as you won't understand that... :rofl

 

Yes I did and for me the usual Douglas vs the usual bugner is a pick'em as who ever couldn't be bothered would lose . Neither of them were consistent enough to be a dead cert
