Oh I've no doubt s in mind that it could easily go the other way. I just lean toward Joe having the better fight here.
Louis by late stoppage, but it would be a very dangerous fight for him, I could easily see it the other way around.
I have to be honest, it could go tits up for smoke really suddenly. We can't rule out that, Louis is powerful. Maybe not the same kind of brute strength as Foreman but still one of the deadliest punchers in H history. But... I still like Smokin Joe here. Takin his lumps and chugging away, to wear his man down.
Your passage about people not seeing, or not appreciating how hard and accurate Ali,s punches were is a very good point, I had reason to view the FOTC from a different camera angle last time I saw it, first time I had seen the whole fight from this new perspective, and yes Frazier was shipping very hard thumping shots from Ali, round after round, and these from the 70s Ali, bigger, stronger, more muscular than the 60s Clay, so much so, that I could ( on this tape ) make a play for Ali winning the fight, honestly ! Like you inferred, Fraizer showed inhuman amounts of fortitude, courage, and downright Guts, as to make my estimation of him as a fighter soar, a truly epic stand. stay safe buddy.
The crouching style of Galento posed a few problems for Louis, as did Godoy's aggression vs Louis in their 1st meeting. I think this might be the case of a the greater fighter "Louis" losing due to styles. Although don't be surprised if Louis won a rematch between the two, Louis often did do better in rematches and made adjustments.
I’ve “liked” a good many posts on this thread rationally favouring Frazier - even though I personally favour Louis. It’s that type of fantasy fight - a true 50/50, as already pointed out by several members. I won’t go into details why I favour Louis, it’s all been mentioned already here and there on the thread anyway. But I do like Dynamic’s address of an appropriately adjusted and improved Louis in a rematch. Louis’ record def. supports the logic and forecasted credit for same. For the formidable Frazier though, I think Louis (Blackburn) would know enough to prepare properly and bring his A game to the table. One fight in which Louis didn’t need a rematch to fulfil and display his true full potentials was his fight vs Max Baer. Joe displayed pretty much every asset to his game first time around - there was no “budgeting” closely tethered to the quality of the opposition as Joe later became prone to, the younger, more enthused Bomber let the purse strings well and truly loose for the Baer fight. Poor Max. LOL. Sometime Louis improvements in rematches weren’t just about technical adjustments to his prior application, they were also about Joe being a bit too economical and complacent the first time around - luxuries:mistakes he didn’t allow himself when given a second chance.

He looks bigger than Patterson and Frazier, and not small compared to Foreman and Ali.
