I scored fights 1 & 2 and didn't get either one right according to the official decision! I scored the first fight similar to Harold Lederman, I had MAB winning 117-111 or 8-3-1 in rounds (Lederman had it 8-4). MAB was the aggressor from the start and I scored rounds 2,3,4,7,8,9,11,12 for him with round 12 being a 2 point round. I scored 5,6,10 for EM and I scored round 1 EVEN. Most of the rounds were close, not a lot of defense by either fighter but they both took the other's punches well. Lampley did his usual job for HBO, a lot of shrieking whenever a punch was thrown and a lot of boring, useless "punch stat numbers."

Fight 2 I scored as a DRAW, 115 - 115 or 5-5-2 in rounds. I scored 5,6,7,8,9, for MAB, I scored 1,2,4,10,11 for EM, and I scored 3,12 EVEN. Most of the rounds could be scored either way, but in this one EM was the aggressor early, then MAB became the aggressor toward the middle of the fight. Most of the rounds would begin with one fighter doing well, then the other would take over making it difficult to score. As with many of these FOTW fights, I wouldn't argue with how anybody scored either fight, most rounds were close in both fights.

Morales was the busier fighter every damm round. I had it Morales 7-4-1.
Second fight morales 8-4 easiest fight of the trilogy to score.

So...why don’t you “REWATCH and RESCORE “ them with us, and see if your card still turns out the same. I am a Morales appreciator, but scored all 3 fights for MAB in real time. I hope to see them different this time through lol. Anyway I would be interested in seeing a fresh card and thoughts if your willing to share

Erik Morales vs MAB I

What a fun fight! Lots to like from both guys and I have no problem with a wide variable in scorecards and suspect we will see some as more scorecards come in on this one.

I had 6 rounds I felt like 1 guy was the clear or close winner (although I suspect some will disagree) I had MAB up 4-2 in rounds that I didn’t struggle to award. In the other 6 you could score them all even or split them or award a majority to either guy. I think 9-3 MAB to 8-4 Morales are all within the realm of realistic even though mine is more in the middle. I did feel like both 5 & 10 were clear Morales rounds that both Ledderman and Merchant gave to MAB. I almost laughed when Merchant gave 5 to MAB and then I was like huh? When Ledderman did the same. I also struggle with the ruling of a KD in 12 and am not convinced that it was? But it was scored one so my card reflects that ruling, with reluctance....but my verdict is the same with it or without it fortunately.

Close fight I almost scored 1 for Morales but that would still give MAB 114-113 on my card, so I am about as comfortable as one can be in scoring this fight where both guys deserved to win. I do feel MAB edged it but have no problem with most other cards if they are not scored with a fanboy agenda for either guy.

Check it out again! I hope to see a lot of cards this week

I scored fight number 3 at 130 pounds between Morales and Barrera. I scored for MAB 116-113 or 7-4-1 in rounds. I'll make this easier for you when you total up the scores by putting the rounds in a list. The official scores were 114-114, 115-114, 115-113. I like body punches and have always looked at them as an "investment" for later in the fight. Maybe that is why I scored this one slightly wider for MAB than the judges? It was interesting that EM had an 11 pound edge in weight when they went into the ring.
# For the 3 fights, I scored 20 rounds for MAB, 12 for EM, and 4 EVEN. IMO there were few rounds in those 36 that had a clear winner.

Barrera vs Morales II
Much different than the first fight. Very tactical and strategic as opposed to the war and excitement of the first. The 2nd half is much more fun, but still never quite rises to the level of the original. A little more fouling than the first fight mostly from Barrera, and while I didn’t want to see any point deductions, I think Nader could have been a little more harsh in warning Barrera even between rounds. Nady wasn’t horrible but he wasn’t good either. Merchant and Lampley were there normal barely tolerable selves in this one as well.

I feel like my card is wider than the fight as a whole, but taken in 12 compartments I am fairly comfortable with it lol. As opposed to the first fight where I felt like both deserved the win, in this one I just don’t feel either did...but that MAB did edge it.

I feel like Morales didn’t throw as much and is evidenced in the punch stats (which were pushed very hard during the fight), and Barrera turned into more of a boxer and didn’t land as hard or work the body as good as in the first fight. Still a very good fight but not an ATG fight.

Pat and I had 6 rounds different showing there were many close rounds and little separating them in many of them.

One of the more memorable big fights I've watched in a bar, had to leave after 10th round because a brawl broke out in the bar

Started with the second fight because I'm pretty sure I've haven't seen since it originally aired (scored the first one for Barrera--a blatant robbery--a few years ago, and I hope to have time to revisit).

Through 7, I have Morales up by a couple rounds. He's not accomplishing much in these rounds but he's outlanding Barrera imo. Some of these rounds are very hard to score because they require tough judgement calls (how do you compare a jab to the body with a grazing, slightly overextended right to the head?) I think Barrera was too inactive in several of the first half rounds and basically gave them away. Didn't remember him running so much, especially in round 4 and in 5 too. For all the whining and complaining people do about Mayweather running, I can't remember many rounds where he spent so much time backing up and being outscored as Barrera did in some of those rounds. Not sure if he's just trying to bide his time or frustrate Morales or what, but it's a curious strategy given that Morales has the height and reach advantages and slightly faster hands and reflexes.

MAB: 2 (barely--basically even), 6

By the way, it looked like Nady completely blew that no-knockdown call in the 7th. Should've been a 10-8 Morales round (I thought Morales came back and won the round even without it though).

Will do. At the time of the first fight I was a Barrera fanatic. He was the next Mexican Legend. Morales won me over in that fight. I've watched 1st fight more times than a normal person would. I always have a close fight but Morales was just too active. Both beat each other down. Barrera prob landed the prettier punches but God was just throwing all night long. I believe he threw like 250 more punches. Landed more too. And in close ass fight like that the difference in activity was obvious to me.

We had identical verdicts with a couple of variables along the way.

HBO commentary is very poor....not sure why I thought I would miss them lol.

Bayless did a pretty good job warning and breaking and getting out of the way of 2 heated guys.

More entertaining than the 2nd fight but just short of the first fight in my mind, based on sheer enjoyment,
