Crawford is the obvious favorite given how easily he dispatched of a universally renowned Top 5 PFP fighter and become the first men's 2 weight undisputed champion (in 4 belt era). However, Inoue is set to fight Tapales end of December and while neither Fulton or Tapales are considered PFP talents these fights are Inoue's first at the weight. Should Inoue beat Tapales as comprehensively as he did Fulton does that make him the favorite to win FOTY? Keep in mind Inoue opened as betting favorite over Fulton ar -285 (before gamblers moved line to -400). Odds for Inoue over Tapales have been massive..sitting around -1000 (or more) for Inoue. For context, Crawford was -140 against Spence. Essentially, is 1 win more impressive than 2 wins? The 1 win was versus a renowned PFP guy and neither of 2 wins are necessarily significant - however - Inoue's 2 wins would come in his first 2 fights at a new weight... Thoughts???
There's an entire month left. What you mean is FOTFNTPOTY (fight of the first ninety two percent of the year)
I wish people wouldn't say FOTY. It can mean Fighter of the Year but also Fight of the Year. Or **** of the Year.
If Devin Haney follows up his Undisputed Title win over Vasiliy Lomachenko with a win over the number 1 super-lightweight in the world in Regis Prograis live on DAZN PPV in the Bay Area! @ellerbe and @Olu G. Rotimi would agree with me.
It's clear based on the opening post to be fair, Inoue or Tapales is the likely answer. I'll never pick a fighter of the year who fought once that year.
Perhaps. There's a big difference between edging a split decision which some have found controversial and dominating a champion (which Loma was not) like Spence and Fulton were.
I tried making Feroty happen a couple of years back for the latter. It didn't stick. This content is protected
It's the principle, bijjle-twelve. (bujjle-twelve? bojjle-twelve? what vowel should I shove in there when pronouncing your screen name?)

At present: 1. Crawford 2. Inoue 3. Benavidez 4. Zhang 5. Tsyzu (sucker for activity) Crawford has the best individual win of the year but if Inoue becomes undisputed as we all suspect he will December 26th (and therefore has become undisputed within a single year) I'd have to give it to him. If Haney dominates Prograis he might go to third.
I've used the phrase 45 times in the last dozen years, it turns out: https://www.boxingforum24.com/search/87098059/?q=F'eroty&o=date
