I enjoyed it more than Lopez - Mtagwa actually...but either one is fine. Two great fights either way. :thumbsup
True... Poor Agbeko. That's really messed up. But he intentionally headbutted Perez. And then gets headbutted himself, unintentionally and turns his back and goes down. :huh
It was a nice fight. A good action fight but with some skill on display too. The right man got the decision IMO, albeit via curious scorecards.
It doesnt beat the fact that the fight wasnt "larger" than those guys who are WAY more well known, but straight up, more punches thrown, landed, and they were BOMBS brother! The fight itself was better than all 3 of them. Have to take into consideration these guys fight at a weight class that is not particularly watched.
That is not true and is the biggest crock of an excuse in boxing. To say that automatically rules out a challenger winning a close fight on the cards. It insinuates that all close rounds should go to the champ...regardless of how the round played out. I mean, what, do we give the champ a 2 round lead at the beginning of the fight just in case the challenger doesnt "take it away" from him? It was a damn close fight...one that could have went either way. The only bit of bs in it was the scorecards being that wide.
Well, to be honest, that last headbutt...the one that started the KD...was worse and cleaner than the rest, as both were coming in with full force. Thing is, Agbeko is a guy who lunges with his punches and leans into hooks, meaning he will always have head clashes against fighters that fight him in the pocket. Only one of the 20 or so headbutts tonight seemed intentional to me...and that was the one from Agbeko in the 5th round I think.
I don't think Agbeko is a guy ever in position to be complaining about butts and he caused his own problems by not fighting on. Checking for blood...how does that help matters? It's kinda like Evander Holyfield complaining about butts.
Yeah only one headbutt was intentional (Agbeko). I just don't like when fighters headbutt intentionally it can easily cause a cut or big damage. But the scores were too wide indeed. Good fight, I liked it better than the Lopez one too, that one was more dramatic but not better imo.
I agree. Agbeko had to reap what he sowed. As a headbutter, he should know never to turn his back on his opponent. I think the right guy won. With or without the KD anyway, albeit a lil closer than the judges ringside.
