That is only if the challenger loses (the champion must move on the next in line...its put in place to make sure you dont see the same title fight over and over with the same result). Rematch clauses are put in place in case of the champion losing...which is fine under IBF rules. Hopefully they had one.
Awesome fight. I am glad I ended up catching it. I thought Perez won. The scores should have been much closer but I believe Perez won regardless
great fight, I gotta hand to Perez. He manned up and brought to Agbeko. I admit, while it's no fun to suffer a clash of heads, I did find it odd Agbeko would complain about them, considering all the times he'd used his own head in the ring. Great fight, both guys came to fight, the fans who were there got their moneys' worth, and I hope there's a rematch.
What? Name them. Lopez-Mtagwa? No, it does beat that fight. And I was at Lopez-Mtagwa, live. Watching Perez vs. Agbeko on TV was way more exciting. This was a nonstop technical slugfest, that was a nonstop ugly brawl. The former will always be more appealing to me than the latter.
It was great a fight, and I didn't think the scorecards were all that bad. Personally, I had it 116-112 Perez. (One round I had even, and of course the KD round) All of the rounds were tough to score, but I am glad that the right fighter won. When I heard the scorecards my heart dropped because I thought for sure it was going to Agbeko.
Thanks to you and BazookaJab for that info.I didn't know the IBF rules. Thanks for clearing that up for us.Hopefully the IBF will enforce their own rules.
Very good fight between two good fighters but with three knuckleheads scoring the fight. Does anyone know the punchstats of this fight?
damn this was a good scrap but i was so tired by about rd7 i fell asleep.Hard fought pace up to that point. What did i miss beyond RD7?I had Perez slightly up at that point.
Not FOTY but definetely a very good ifght. They're styles clashed better then they're heads. Thought Perez nicked it by 3 points but the headbutt KD definetely made a differenc(for me at least cuz the scores were off).
Wow...you seriously thought Berto/Collazo was better than last night? I mean, to be quite honestly Agbeko/Perez was on par with the other two, as far as round-per-round action is concerned.
