Round 7

Martinez is gunning hard now on the front foot. Brown is sliding away and shimmying her shoulders, trying to catch Martinez coming in with long hooks. Instead it's the rangier Martinez slapping away and tagging Brown with head-slaps coming forward. Brown can't keep her away. Desperation charge by Brown, throwing a wide combo. Martinez keeps slapping her way into a clinch and then works the body. A couple of thudding rights for Brown just before the bell are her best stuff of the round but Martinez won it. 10-9

 

There's an animated wolf in a yellow and green boxing robe during the station-identification interstitial. So that's what the dude in the oversized costume was dressed up as in that in-ring dance routine before Concepcion-Marquez...the TV Max mascot.

 

Round 8

Another hard-fought fast-paced round, both girls slugging away. Martinez landing really well to the body. Brown is trying to get a right hand through but her arm is moving sluggishly. Martinez keeps whacking her in the face but doesn't seem to have the power to put her away (or Brown's whiskers are really good). martinez goes down. Slip? No! It's a knockdown! She sits for a moment before getting up. Saved by the bell. I didn't even see the punch. :think

edit: replay shows it was...a SHOULDER! Shoulder knockdown. OK, ref.

Let's see...slower replay, different angle...Brown does land a hooking right across the forehead of Martinez, and Martinez's head snaps back a little but she then starts to lean forward to clinch Brown...then Brown rams her shoulder into her face and she goes flying backward.

Yeah, there was a punch. So I guess the ref wasn't way off...but the shoulder is definitely what actually knocked her down.

 

Round 9

CRAZY TOE TO TOE ACTION! Both ladies just banging away for all they're worth. This is really good stuff, honestly. Hard body shots by Martinez. Brown shoeshines to the boobs. Martinez has her head pushed down in the clinch as Brown backpedals. What is going on? The ref is stopping the action...ah, mouthpiece out for Martinez. Brown comes forward slapping with right hooks. Martinez answers back with a fierce headhunting flurry of her own. Point blank, they're emptying entire clips into their opponent's face.

Nice.

 

Round 10

Both come straight at each other, swinging hard. Brown rocked by a left hook and right hand. Martinez gets wild and gets tagged herself. Martinez slapping high with overhands. Brown is circling right in the southpaw stance and popping a right jab. Martinez slugs away to the body until drawn into a clinch. Brown throws a hard right and sails just wide of Martinez's face with it, pulling her down as she pulls back. Martinez chases, grabs with her left and whacks the body with her right. Brown is moved to the ropes and keeps pumping right hands as Martinez tosses flurry after flurry into her face.

She should probably be ahead.

They parade around the ring hugging each other and constantly exchanging hats ?) while waiting for the scores to be announced.

It's kinda hot.

 

Martinez kneels and buries her face in one of the turnbuckles, praying.

Brown tries to climb the ring ropes but is too tired (or is worried about upskirts).
