FOTY: Pacquiao - Margarito

Spectacle of the Year for sure, but I'm putting money on Martinez-Williams 2 for FOTY.

 

FOTY must be more competitive than Pac-Margo, which was a one sided beatdown.


So far, I go with Froch-Kessler.

 

It's a landslide win for Pac!! But Margo did his thing, hurt Pac a little, never backed down, Throw his share of punches!!

But look at the Big Crown reception?? Look at any of the Fans reaction for even those who watched the PPV on tv? There's nothing even close to this fight this year!!

I say Fight of the year for me!!!

 

There hasn't been too many real good fights this year, for action and competitive nature.

Pacquiao-Margarito was far too one-sided to be the Fight of the Year. It was a massacre.

 

pacquiao will surely win fighter of the year though.

 

There are still lot upcoming fights.

 

Hell, I'd put Chavez Jr. vs. Duddy ahead of Pac/Margo in FOTY contention.

 

Pac/Marg very likely has a few Round of the Year candidates, but FOTY? No.

 

The Sky Sports broadcast team already dubbed it FOTY. I thought it was very entertaining from start to finish; despite the fact Manny probably won every round, Margarito held his own and never really seemed out of the fight until probably round 11.

 

This is a strong candidate for The Ring's Unofficial Award of "Facial Monstrosity of the Year".

 

Pac-Marg probably won't even be Fight of The Month.

 

I dont consider a FOTY, because

1) it was too one sided

2) the result was a foregone conclusion, as the styles of the fighter would dictate

3) MArgo was never really in the fight.

Now Froch-Kessler was a war. It was meaningful fight with 2 top 10 dudes, and there was back and forth action for all 12 rds, especially the last round where they let it all hang out.

Also, the result of that fight was not a foregone conclusion, as with Pac-Margo.

 

Margo's in the fight!!! I got scared a bit when he hurt Pac in the 6th!!
