I voted for Vazquez vs Marquez III. It has the back and forth action, the ups and downs, both fighters inflicting heavy damage on each other and it has a split decision verdict that manifested a very close fight.
i agree, even though the fight was short the combatants dealt each other a hellacious amount of punishment
Yeah i was surprised that after the fight it barely got any mention or recognition. A very good fight.
Lampley? I'm shocked, buddy. You don't think the tiebreaker had more dramatic shifts of momentum? :think
I think Vazquez-Marquez III was clearly the FOTY. It's the only fight I've ever seen that made me think Barrera-Morales I wasn't the greatest fight of all time. The only reason I still consider the Barrera-Morales fight slightly better is probably because it includes Barrera. **** though, watching the Vazquez-Marquez fight back for about the 10th time to show it to a friend recently, I still can't believe how amazing it was. They both showed insane amounts of heart and the 12th round is something I'll never forget.. incredible finish by Vazquez and incredible will by Marquez to stay on his feet, despite not having the strongest chin.
Hey, Barrera's the fighter that rekindled my interest in the sport as an adult. Vazquez-Marquez III all the way. :yep
The only thing that Vazquez-Marquez didn't have that I loved a lot about Barrera-Morales is the hate (and I'm not talking about the outside of the ring stuff). When Barrera and Morales fought, it really seemed like these guys despised and wanted to hurt eachother badly. Vazquez-Marquez had that in some ways because of the way they came back at eachother after getting hit, but with Barrera-Morales, the passion just feels a little different.
