Was a great fight. reminiscent of Gatti and Ward at times, don't think theres anyone who wouldn't love to see them 2 go at it again.
I'm ready for it. I think we'll all be on board for it. Too bad Old Bob is gonna feed Rios to Pacquiao.
I sill have Salido-Lopez II as FOTY, because the ending was less controversial. That said, this fight kicked 900 varieties of ass, with asses lining up around the corner to get themselves kicked by this fight. :deal So if someone wants to call this FOTY at this point, then fine by me.:good
I was there live and you can hear every ear splattering punch from the ring side area. The emotion and the feel for the fight was #tremendous. To me it was the FoTY with a great ending. From where I was sitting that stoppage was good, Alvarado looked out on his feet.
I had four friends over to watch the fight. None of them had watched much boxing and by the end of the third round they were all going crazy and screaming 'that's not human! That's not human!' Any fight that can completely floor non-boxing fans so dramatically has to be the fight of the year imo. That being said if the fight had ended just a shade more conclusively it would have been even greater. I don't mean to be callous when talking about a man's health but a fight that violent should have a conclusive ending. Not saying it was a bad stoppage though.
That's really the one thing that keeps it from being a lead-pipe cinch for being FOTY for me. Salido-Lopez II (which had insane action from Round 5 to the end, and damned good action throughout) had a conclusive ending that left no doubt as to whom the better fighter was that evening. This fight didn't have that type of ending Great f'n fight, though. And some of the action was inhuman.
