    I don't think that was ever officially recognized though, just Louis giving him a duration belt or something..could be wrong. :think

    The fighter I am looking for fought the most different fighters that either fought for the Heavyweight Championship, or was the Heavyweight Champion of the World.

    Not really, not too many of there opponents fought in a World Heavyweight Title bout.

    Wills only fought 3 (Uzcudun, Firpo & Sharkey) and Langford only fought 5 (Jack Johnson, Ketchel, O'Brien, Battling Jim Johnson & Flynn).

    Yes I missed Patterson, But Maxim only counts as one, not two, and like you said, Johnson was the Light Heavyweight Champion and never fought for the Heavyweight Title.

    How many different Fighters is what I am looking for.
