In the ring during Floyds post fight interview with Larry Merchant after his fight with Carlos Hernandez: Floyd starts talking about how he entered the ring with two "messed up hands". Larry starts asking him about the scene in his dressing room before the fight and whether or not he refused to have his hands wrapped with extra tape (which is a no no) Floyd smiles and denies this saying that he simply wanted his hands wrapped comfortably. Larry cuts him off and says: "Did you have to take a shot of of Novacaine in either hand or both?" Before Larry can even finish saying "both" Mayweather cuts in and replies "Both". Larry then asks affirmingly: "Both Hands?" To which Floyd responds: "Both hands."
How long you're been a boxing fan? Floyd and Ellerbe are very well known to say false statements since long time ago just to hype Floyd's fights. Lying is the most effective way to hype Floyd's fights since he has somewhat a boring style of boxing which can possibly discourage the casual fans.
Were you replying with a general Floyd response? Cuz it doesn't make sense with what the OP said. As for the shooting his hands up, I doubt I'm alone in saying I'm not surprised in the least.
Whats Michigan states rule on this? Clearly it has to be legal if he got two shots in the locker room (in front of someone) and he announced it live on air.
Regardless, he's talking about ellerbe flat out saying floyd never did it. He's a ****ing liar. But it doesn't matter, this xylocaine **** is stupid anyway.
I don't know which one to believe anymore. The USADA and WADA does not test or consider it illegal but the USADA and WADA rules are not what is being used in boxing. The fact that WADA rules cover a whole gamut of sports to include boxing, is probably the reason why xylocaine is not illegal. Example, basketball players with knee injury or pain can have steroid injection as well as pain killer injection on the affected site. Or any other sport for that matter. However, boxing is entirely a different animal as the hand is the instrument, that enhancing it, or numbing the pain is a form of cheating in theory and principle. Apparently someone stated that it is illegal only if used within 24 hours of the fight.
Oh c'mon. Are we going to be this petty? Even if he did inject substance in his hands it couldn't have been any different than a pain killer. You're telling me that should be illegal? Fine by me as long as we can also ban Aspirin. After all, if your favorite fighter has a headache before a match and takes Aspirin it makes him perform better which according to some imbeciles, is a form of cheating. Great! A mega fight can actually be canceled over a headache. I can post a video of Manny Pacquiao admitting in front of the camera that he once cheated to make weight back in the early days of his career. That's not something I'd call him out on because it was a long time ago. And I'm not desperate to ruin his reputation.
