This was before their fight. Infact this was the sparring session mainly for Chavez to prepare for Meldrick Taylor. You'll see he has a sparring session with Shane Mosley too but not in the same video.

Oscar had been pro for two years, and he looked very good in there.

It's not like Oscar was putting everything behind his punches either.

Actually, he looked like the big, slow handicap kid at school getting his ass handed to him by the younger, faster kid.

after watch how an ancient Chavez (38, yr,1998... completely destroys Hoya`s face in Oscar best weight ( welter) .... i have no doubt that prime vs prime JCC would have smash hoya at 140 ...

1996 circa was not even counting .... that cut that JCC brings to fight day was just bad luck for him ..

look, 6:58-7:04 in the video ... the younger and faster Hoya gets schooled by the older and slower JCC

    :patsch:patsch:patsch

    Really?

I guess you also missed their 1996 bout. If you even saw the 98 fight, you'd know that Oscar allowed Chavez to get close because Oscar was wanted to beat chavez at his own game, IN FIGHTING. Oscar didn't have to fight that way, but he's a show man, a fighters fighter.

    Excuses. Nothing more nothing less.

Oooh, Chavez looked decent against Oscar for 6 whole seconds. Keep in mind, it's Chavez preping for a huge fight, not Oscar, and you can tell Oscar is also not putting everything behind his punches.

Anyway, 2 years after that session, Oscar did the same thing, and beat Chavez.:deal

If that was for the Taylor fight, Oscar had been pro for less than two years.
