If anyone was trying and going full force it was ODLH, you could tell on his right foot pivot and strong follow through with his punches and also his combos to the body and head. How strong do you have to be to knockdown someone with headgear on, that was not a body shot that took ODLH down, very impressed with a Chavez who was primarily working on his defense in there and still got the knockdown.

ODLH is a casual fans fighter not a real boxing fans fighter that can see through his bs fights. He fights the big names which wows the casual fans but not boxing fans that know why he picks the opponents he does fight.

He fought an old, past his prime undersized welterweight in Whitaker thinking it be an easy fight and looked foolish in there, he should of lost that fight.

He could not beat a guy in Mayweather at 154 lbs, who had just had a few fights at welterweight and had fought his entire career below jr. welterweight. ODLH had the size and strength advantage as well as experience on his side as a jr. middleweight. He had been fighting as a jr middleweight since 2001. Yet he came up short when he should have won against a hand picked opponent.

Same **** with Pac, he figured he could beat this big name fairly easily and get world wide recognition by people that don't know boxing. Again ODLH had all the advantages on this fight and was the clear favorite to beat a guy who was fighting at a weight 15 lbs over any other weight he had ever fought at. I mean he fought Diaz at 135 for one fight but before that he had never passed the 130lb mark. Again he came up short when he should have won against another hand picked opponent.

When he didn't take the safest fight and tried to fight the best he lost or looked bad, i.e. Quartey, Tito, Mosley (twice), Hopkins. ODLH hand picked his opponents as much as anybody in the history of the sport, he was managed well coming off the olympic gold. i.e Jorge Paez, Hector Camacho, Arturo Gatti, Yori Boy Campas, Javier Castillejo, Felix Strum, Fernando Vargas, Ricardo Mayorga, Steve Forbes, just to name a few, note most of these fights were title fights. Again most of these are big names but if you look closely you will see that when they fought ODLH, he had several advantages over them. Whether it was that they were past their prime, coming off a loss, were shot fighters, undersized, fighting outside of their natural weightclass etc.

    Very nice find.

You could tell it was master v pupil, Oscar was full of that hyper, nervous energy, throwing combo`s like his life depended on it while the great Chavez was slowly walking him down slipping (& taking) the shots landing the harder, more effective shots.

Lovely snap right hand by Julio cesar near the end (his joint best punch along with the left to the liver)... despite Oscar being the naturally bigger man I think that prime Chavez would beat him in a primes match, I think he`d pull back an early lead to knock the life out of Oscar`s legs (& gas tank) in the later rds, he would win a close 12 rd verdict or a 14 rd TKO if it was a 15 rder IMO.

Chavez did a lot of smooth things in there, like Duran, he was a master of slipping punches & making you pay in the harshest of ways.

You find me just ONE person that aint an Oscar fanboy that thinks Oscar is a greater fighter than Chavez.... good luck with that ****.

Boxing is about timing.... how about we put the Chavez that beat Taylor in there vs the Oscar that beat Forbes... its practically the same scenario.

Show respect to King JCC, Mexico`s finest ever fighter - Mexican-Americans included ;)

First of all it was sparring, if you knew anything about it yu'd know a bunch of **** that happens in sparring wouldn't noramlly happen in a real fight. Oscar was just peppering Chavez with punches, not trying to decapitate him. Like you said, perhaps helping Chavez in his defense. Chavez caught Oscar with a straight right, no biggie, it's not like Oscar has never been down in a REAL fight by LESSER opponents.

When Oscar and Chavez finally met in a real fight two years after that session, Oscar outboxed him the first time, and brutally kicked his ass the second time.

Yeah, he picks the fighters he fights. Of course, what recent mother****er has fought MORE P4P fighters, more champions, for more titles than Oscar De La Hoya??!

This is some hater bull**** here. Oscar fought everyone he should have and could have, wether they were a lot bigger than him, alot faster, or alot younger, Oscar still challeneged himself everytime. He fought the best more times more consistantly than anyone else. Yet you say he picks his opponenets???That's your ****ing complaint :rofl.

Don't you like boxing? Don't you wish boxers fought whoever whenever??? Oscar fought 3 roided fighter ffs!!!

:rofl:rofl:rofl Oscar moved up from 140 to 147 to fight in his first fight P4P king, reigning Welter champion Pernell Whitaker. And no, he won a clear close fight. Seriously, you are delusional.:patsch

No, an over the hill, part time boxer, full time promoter Oscar de la hoya lost a SD against Gym rat, full time boxer, P4P king, prime of his career Mayweather.

    think about that. :patsch

Yeah, Oscar was pretty much a past prime fighter, a shell of what he once was, part time boxer, and still he BARELY lost against the P4P king.

Oscar's last fight after about 15 years of pro fighting 14 of those years fighting at world level against the best.

    Shot and weight drained.

You're a complete ****ing moron. You want to know why it seemed that Oscar had advantaged over his opponents??? because that is the way boxing is dumbass!

Fighters have advantages over each other. It's what makes it interesting. Mayweather has youth, speed, and confidence over Oscar, while Oscar had size.

It's boxing ******! That's why us real boxing fans LOVE it, because every fighter will bring certain strengths and weakeness.:patsch

Oscar fought everyone he possibly could have and should have. He won most and lost some. He has had more title fights, has beat more champions, andhas fought better opposition than any other current fighter.

You sir, are a complete douche and hater. :deal

He tried to go out a `winner` by picking on a smaller guy & got his ass handed to him.... only an Oscar fanboy of the highest order will try defend what went down there... it was embarrassing.

Meldrick Taylor didn't have Oscar's footwork or power. Oscar beats Chavez prime for prime.

Now, if that sparring session was for the first Taylor fight, it further proves my idea that prime Oscar beats prime Chavez. Because if it was for the first taylor fight Oscar was just 16 or 17 years old in there.

Yuo don't like boxing do you? Fighters always try to fight fighters who they think they will beat, even and especially at the end of their respective careers.

This is what no one can ever answer. Instead they will resort to the same tired out complaints. They'll find the one or two guys he DIDN'T fight in a sixteen year career. The fact is, DLH stands way taller than p4p greats today, and Mosley still stands on his shoulders. :deal
