There must be some who would. He had a debatable decision or two go his way at welter, and some tough close fights.
No one is invincible, there's always someone out there in theory who can beat you. And theory becomes reality if we put all fighters of all time in a pool of possibilities.

With Tyson, I think there would be lots of them. I'd probably say that about any other great short-armed 5'10 heavyweight too, whatever their other attributes.

I agree. It wouldn't be thrilling. It would be feature a fair bit of clinching and running from Ali, not many landed punches in the early going. Then Tyson gets frustrated and shuts down after a few rounds. Then Ali takes advantage, hooray a bit of violence, Tyson suddenly looks vulnerable, and then it becomes too one-sided and suddenly it's all over ..

Poor preparation is just as much a weakness as any other attribute.

Anyways it's moot because whilst tyson might have fared better had he prepared better, the same could be said about douglas also.

He NEVER had poor preparation when trained by Kevin Rooney.

You think Douglas could of prepared better? :? He was in the best shape of his whole frigging life by a million miles. You make a stupid point. Really. How much harder could Douglas have trained? :? 1%? For a marginal and negligible difference only, nobody would see a difference on film. Tyson on the other hand had such shamefully shitty mental prep, such shamelessly shitty physical prep and such stupidly shitty technique prep, he was like a sun-dried slug with a squashed head, all covered in rock salt. The Tyson who fought Holyfield was a billion times better in real terms and that is immediately obvious from the speed and reflexes disparity.

My point isn't stupid. Both could perform better if both prepared better.

How do you know his preparation was never poor?

How do you know any better preparation by douglas would present as a marginal difference on film?

You make too many assumptions and exaggerations.

Probably best for you to just stick to the general forum mate.

Sorry mate I am unworthy of your limitless superiority, Mr. Snobby ****.

You are right, Douglas could have trained harder and it would have cancelled out Tyson training harder.

If Douglas could have trained harder to be enough better to counter Tyson training hard enough to be at his best, then Douglas would be some kind of living Invinicble GOD in the ring and you know it.

I also apologise that my point was too stupid for your boundless intellect Mr. Genius ****.

I'm saying there's no point hypothesising about one man doing better without allowing the other man the same benefit. At that stage you're basically talking about a completely different fight which is subjective and one's opinion on a subjective matter is no more valid than another's.

Douglas was no god, he was just as weak in terms of dedication as you saw in the holyfield fight. Likewise he gets no excuse by me neither.

Douglas whooped Tysons ass fair and square, people give Tyson a pass on every ****ing mistake he makes. It's as if when he does good he is " Kid dynamite" but when he does bad it's just some doppleganger that takes his place. Plenty of fighters switch trainers multiple times and don't turn into a complete **** ups, so get off Tysons nuts people

    Calm down fawkes.

Tyson did bad 1 time over seven years and 42 fights of what was undeniably his physical prime. He accomplished a fairly good amount in a short period of time and was considered p4p the best fighter in the world over the course of his reign. I'd say he recovered rather nicely from getting KTFO and had himself back in position to regain his title. And he earned that. Some would say going 37-0 and blasting out rated fighter after rated fighter should've warranted an immediate rematch, especially given douglas prior standing. Instead, he fought and beat Ruddock (The No. 2) in back to back fights that damaged him.

As a side note, Holyfield always smacks Tyson around.

I don't know if pre-roids Holy has the same strength to clinch and push him off as effectively. He got swayed from the first shot Tyson threw and decided that was enough. The butting, yes. Someone else also mentioned in another thread Holyfield's prior willingness to trade and get into slugfests. :D

Tyson would have Ali on the canvas,in the fetal position, and clutching his tummy in agony after a few digs.Be lucky to last out the first round.

    Very true.

Tyson's catching another ass beating if he slugs it out with Holyfield, whenever they fight. Evander's the better fighter, straight up. They can go up boxing or slugging, and Mike is always going to crumble first.
