I believe that Wlad is a low end top ten guy and Vitali a top 25 guy, but Fury has the potential to become MUCH greater if he just builds up some good supporting wins and does not embarrass himself (in the ring, that is).

    1. He's already done the hard part on beating a great champ

The knock against K2 is that they never beat great opponents. Vitali lost to the two best he faced (Lewis, Byrd) and his best wins are good but underwhelming Sanders, Peter, Adamek, Gomez and Briggs. Wladdy beat a little better comp in Povetkin, Chagaev, Haye, Byrd, and Ibragimov, but lost to fringe contenders. But at the end of the day, Wlad is a guy who had 18-23 title defenses, and Fury beat him fair, square, and rather easily.

    2. He is divorced from the Lewis era

No matter how good they are, Vitali is always going to be the guy who failed to wrest the torch from Lewis, and Wlad is always going to be the guy who never earned the shot against him. Fury is free to compete without the Lewis comparisons.

    3. It is a good era

Wlad Klit, Wilder, Povetkin, Chagaev, Glazkov, Martin, Haye, Joshua, Parker, Ortiz, Ibebucchi, with Wallisch, Wallin, Kuzman, and maybe Usyk on deck. Lots of good fights to be had.

    4. A lot of those guys are very beatable

Fury dominated Wladdy, and there is no reason to think that he can't win again. Haye is probably shot. The winner of Glazkov-Martin will be a fairly easy mark. Wilder is a joke. Povetkin is a beast these days, but is very small and could have trouble with Fury's size and reach.

Judging by the Whyte fight, I am not convinced that Joshua will surpass him. It seems that Fury is intent on developing more of the real skills of scientific boxing, whereas Joshua just wants to be an offensive machine.

Etc. I am not saying that Fury WILL beat all of these guys, but he certainly has the tools to beat them all if he stays focused and has little luck.
