He looked wobbly before the first punch landed. Yikes.

Round 1 Montiel wins by KO1

Kirkland coming forward, gets clipped by a left hook to the temple, Kirkland goes down, he gets back up, Montiel taking his time, placing his shots, landing uppercuts and looping hooks, Kirkland goes down again, he's back up, he's woozy as hell. The ref stupidly lets it continue, Montiel unloading uppercuts and hooks, he goes down again, it's waved.

I knew kirkland was past prime and would lose, but that was still shocking.

As if the ref let it continue after seeing him walk forward like that

I think we've just seen the last of James Kirkland. His chin is totally gone, he looks brain-damaged given how easily he gets put away. No point in having him take other dangerous KO loss.

Kirklands best fight was the war with Angulo. Otherwise, his career was a huge dissapointment, based on the hype he got early.

Montiel can punch a bit judging from his record but when your chin gets ruined by a Japanese fisherman who had never even rocked or wobbled anyone before (as Kirkland's was by Ishida) you're packing some grade A glass up top. Hell, Kirkland even got sparked out by a pre-Clebuterol Clenelo for goodness sake.

Stick a fork in Kirkland's chin it's done. Actually, on second thoughts stick it in some other part of his anatomy because that glass chin of his might crack even if you use a plastic one.

It’s really time for a fighter to retire if you can correctly predict his fights to end this way..

Newsflash. When you have a glass jawed fighter, who'd been off for a year where he feasted on a few glass jawed bums, and that was after he came back from a 2 years layoff. You don't put him in with an incredibly durable, accurate, heavy handed KO artist and much larger opponent. The moment I saw this listed on Boxrec, I got excited, because I knew the result instantaneously. Literally never had a doubt Montiel would stop him and early. Kirkland's team clearly either hate him, or have no ****ing clue what they're doing.
