The refs were probably given their orders to stop the Ramirez-DeMarco fight the first time they saw someone rocked, and then when pressed for time, the hard out at 10 was coming up, they told the ref to wrap it up in the main event. You can't put anything past PBC.:deal:

IIRC Avalos was in very bad shape when the ref waved it off when he fought Frampton, like he would've been badly knocked out had Frampton cracked him with another big short or two bad shape. Tough guy though.

He was dead on his feet, Frampton was ripping him to pieces, had it not been stopped Avalos would have been unconscious soon. And IIRC it was in the 5th or 6th.

He still stayed upright and was fighting back till the end. His punch resistance might be questionable, but his recuperative ability was pretty decent this evening.

    Also...

That stoppage looked to be badly mistimed . Avalos had weathered far worse punches earlier in the fight and had come back to give a good account of himself. Would have at least waited a couple of seconds to see how he reacted after taking that last one two.

Valdez is a good puncher who can put a lot of guys down. Gradovich was also put down hard by Oscar, and no one questions his toughness.

Yes. It was actually a very good stoppage by the ref.

I agree, this was a poorly timed stoppage, but Avalos, while tough as old leather boots, he isn't hard to badly rock, and when he gets rocked, he usually stays rocked until the ref has to wave it off.

His resistance isn't great, but given the effort he put in during the previous couple of rounds I might have waited a little longer is all.

I will say that Avalos looked to be out of range on the scorecards, and given the abuse he sustained it's not a completely unforgivable stoppage. Just stopped at the wrong moment.
