Areola can be justifiably proud of his performance.
Ruiz - Arreola
Things were there for Arreola all night. Ruiz didn't really hurt him with that power. It is what it is though. At least Ruiz was able to throw combos for 12 rounds. Get that Parker II going, or King Kong next.
I thought Arreola won the 2nd and 3rd, conceivably the 8th or something like that.
Really good first 3 rounds then got kinda boring, overall, average performance for Ruiz
Really good fight, much better than expected.
Ruiz can’t lead, he’s a counter puncher, anybody that can work behind a strong jab and move will give him real problems.
118-109 x 2
UD for Ruiz
I would have given Chris 3 rounds at least.
Didn’t like those scores...
So no hate on AJ whom definitely deserves his credentials and acclaim. But today is why he has a lot of detractors. We had 2 of his previous opponents who was considered his better wins fight today and they both struggled with 40 yr old non top 10 ranked fighters. That explains this era of HWs in a nutshell.
Credit to goosen,
He had aérreola ready as he could be .... underrated trainer
Arreola KO’s a lot of heavyweights if he shows up like that he would certainly put Dillion Whyte to sleep.
