Charlo is chasing Rodriguez with the jab on the brow and stepping in looking for the right cross. He finds it after having to cut the ring off in a zigzag, moving diagonally forward after Rodriguez, aggressively maneuvering in until Rodriguez has no choice but to grab. Rodriguez taps Charlo's sides in the clinch, very lightly.

Round 7

Charlo is ducking the jabs and lashing lead lefts of Rodriguez. Charlo is putting on earmuffs and bending forward into Rodriguez's belt line. Rodriguez's fists are careening off the back of Charlo's gloves or his dreadlocks. Hard 1-2 by Charlo straightening up from a crouch, just narrowly missing past Rodriguez's jaw. Double jab, limp left by Rodriguez flipped up into Charlo's guard. They clinch and Rodriguez slaps Charlo behind the head with his right glove. Charlo is circling left and oscillating his shoulders, watching and sizing up Rodriguez. Jab and chopping right by Charlo. Rodriguez grabs at Charlo's head as he ducks in close, trying to push it down and hold him still, but Charlo slips away and moves straight back while scoring a jab.

Round 8

Charlo is landing jabs and right hands, very accurate and technically correct, then drop-stepping out and fading to his left before Rodriguez can start to swipe back at him. Rodriguez pushes out the right jab coming forward but can't get inside with Charlo constantly circling and moving in to shove Rodriguez a step further out. Right hand and left hook combo by Charlo exploiting Rodriguez as he bent too low and nearly lost his balance. Clinch. Rodriguez works his left while holding Charlo, smashing him in the mouth with it but not able to get much leverage on it.

"Listen. This guy DEAD. Don't worry about the uppercut. Don't throw it. I don't need the uppercut. Forget it. Just use the jab. Double the jab up, keep him looking at the jab, QUICK RIGHT HAND!"

Round 9

Charlo is circling left, backing up, and moving in with very smooth and precise footwork, and punching with the same machine-like form, landing double jabs and right crosses to the lacerated and swollen eyes of Rodriguez. Jab and chopping right by Charlo on the inside as Rodriguez pumps his right jab to get close. Charlo ducks and backs away, making Rodriguez miss his left hand. Charlo is setting himself, catching Rodriguez coming in with his 1-2, then extending his rear leg and dragging the lead proportionately. Hard left hand by Rodriguez coming in with accelerated pace and surprising Charlo a little. Right hooks in the clinch by Rodriguez, grinding into Charlo and staying in his chest.

Round 10

Charlo is landing the 1-2 backing up and puts a flourish on it with the left hook in one instance. Rodriguez keeps coming, and eats a HUGE UPPERCUT!! Charlo follows up with hard lightning-strike flurries. Rodriguez is about to go down, and is held up by the ropes. The ref jumps in! Charlo thinks it was stopped, but the ref signals he is only giving a standing eight count. Rodriguez is badly hurt. His eyes are puffed and he is peering through slits at Charlo, getting banged up. The ref waves it off, belatedly. (the initial count probably ought to have actually been the stoppage like Charlo thought it was)

TKO10!

 

I think it's funny that his trainer said to eschew the uppercut but it winds up being exactly what got the job done.

In fairness, Charlo did set that up by doing lots of good work employing the 1-1-2 being asked for to soften Rodriguez up.

He was definitely asleep on the job there. J-Rod took many unnecessary lumps while effectively defenseless...and partially blinded.
