    Round 4

Delgado is jabbing and skipping away, lying in wait and tossing up an overhand right when Quevedo moves in. Delgado is keeping his back on the ropes, snapping at the corners, landing counter left hooks as Quevedo pressures behind the jab. Right on the body by Quevedo. Big right hand lead up top by Delgado, thrown from behind the rear hip. Single jab by Delgado. Quevedo chases Delgado into the ropes and pumps a straight combo at his head. Delgado ducks and weaves. Delgado bends over to one side and holds as Quevedo flurries over his back. Wild right by Delgado misses. Quevedo falls short with a 1-2, countered with a heavy left hook.

Interesting that Delgado and Quevado landed the same number of punches in each and every round. Not a bad fight at all, and closer than the shutout scorecards would indicate.

Yeah, I was fascinated by that coincidental pattern.

Really not bad. Quevedo is better than his now 1-2 record indicates.

As for Delgado, his climb back up will be arduous. I guess he was chummy with all the featherweights on the card tonight, as they all knew each other in the amateur scene and generated similar buzz...until he started down a bad road outside the ring. He wants to get back to where those guys (Diaz Jr., Tapia, Ramirez and De la Hoya) are now - but I dunno. He's only 3-0 in the pros, so he can't be judged too harshly for looking so raw - I just don't know if there is the potential there for him to catch up to his blue-chip old acquaintances...even assuming he stays on the straight and narrow.

    Round 1

Castaneda is circling left and flicking a double jab. Castaneda is looking to get a side angle on Diaz to plant a right cross. Diaz turns, savvy, throwing high right jabs and hooks and bowling in lefts on the belt line to keep a lid on Castaneda's output. Castaneda is slipping the right jab on the way in, ducking and rolling. Diaz takes a big step backward as Castaneda fires a hard underhanded right on the body, grazing. Diaz is stepping in with the right jab, scoring on the much taller Castaneda and maneuvering past his rangier left jab.

    10-9 Diaz

    Round 2

Castaneda is reaching in with the jab and taking hard right hooks on the body. Diaz is digging in with the body hook and forcing Castaneda on the backfoot with left hands shot up on an incline. Castaneda is ducking the jab and curling in left hooks on the body leaning forward. Diaz steps off, repositions a few inches to his own right, and pops Castaneda in the mouth with a left hand lead as he is rotating to face up. Diaz throws a jab past Castaneda's left glove, intentionally missing, distracting Castaneda while he plugs a left into the belly and then darts out. Lead right by Castaneda, blocked. Looping left by Diaz, flush.

    10-9 Diaz

    20-18 Diaz

    Round 3

Castaneda is getting rocked by the right jab of Diaz, rocketing up from below. Powerful left hand leads by Diaz marching in. Castaneda is tucking up, elbows at his sides, staying tall and defensive. Reach in jabs and straight rights on the body by Castaneda. Diaz counters with a heavy left down the pipe. Castaneda dives in throwing a 1-2 on the body, pulling his punches when it become apparent Diaz has the quick first step on him, already drifting away from the ropes before Castaneda is halfway there. Castaneda taps his gloves together, frustrated, reversing direction as he turns and makes sure Diaz isn't about to ambush him from the flank.

    10-9 Diaz

    30-27 Diaz

    Round 4

Castaneda is getting backed up by the steady right jab. Diaz is cutting in close and hammering Castaneda on the face with straight and overhand lefts, thrown full-force. Castaneda is slouching over, wrapping his arms around himself. Castaneda is whipping left hooks into the body of Diaz to keep him off but only slowing him a little. Diaz stalks.

    10-9 Diaz

    40-36 Diaz

The ref just asked Castaneda on his way to his stool if he is okay.
