Jessica Morales just interviewed the corner of Jaxel Marrero, who told her that he is scared of De la Hoya and not acting himself...basically just hoping not to get KTFO.

I disagree. I don't think he's being handed anything. If he were on the GBP roster and not a blood relative of its figurehead honcho, it would still make sense for him to be on a FS1 card in an undercard swing bout (remember, this is probably on because of the quick ending in Washington vs. Scott...) - and in fact make no sense to not.

Much lesser fighters are televised on FS1 undercards regularly.

If he were main eventing, then it would be favoritism.

Hmm...sounds like scintillating TV. Waiting for Luis Ortiz.

DDLH throws some lovely combos. Marrero did well to take them, but I don't know how much more he'll be willing or able to take.

In spite of Jaxel's negativity, Diego is showing off some really nifty offensive work for a 3-0 kid. Better than you see from a lot of 13-0 guys on TV.

    Round 5

De la Hoya is throwing lead left hooks and right crosses, then reversing the combo, bashing through Marrero's guard either way. De la Hoya is hooking the body and throwing fast combos at the head of Marrero, who circles away on the perimeter, covering up and squatting to limit what De la Hoya gets through, not punching back except with push-jabs to sweep aside De la Hoya's while passing him. Gum shield of Marrero out, twice.

    10-9 De la Hoya

    50-44 De la Hoya

It basically is like watching him rip a heavy bag, although with the way he throws combos, like you say, it still makes for lovely stuff to watch.

I agree with this statement. Kid is letting his hands go nicely. Hes working up and down well. A few more bodyshots would have been good to see, all and all though a sound offensive boxer. Didn't really get to see how his defence is tbh.

    Round 6

De la Hoya is charging after Marrero, hopping in place as Marrero finds sanctuary on the ropes, sitting his butt into them and propelling off in another direction. De la Hoya is using body-fakes, approaching slowly until nearly into range and then dashing inside with fast combos. De la Hoya is trying to frighten Marrero into a trap, but Marrero has the presence of mind to not get caught on the ropes. Long hybrid jab/hooks by De la Hoya, snapping Marrero's head back sharply. Lead right hand up top by De la Hoya, arm grabbed and pulled. Marrero drags him across the ring backing up to the ropes until the referee says to let go. BIG power shoeshine on the face by De la Hoya at the bell, Marrero blocking what he can.

    10-9 De la Hoya

    60-53 De la Hoya

Interested to see how Barrett goes after the horrific KO loss to Shane Cameron 2 years ago.

Never heard of Ortis... should be a good fight by the sounds of things.

Poor Marrero, was really like a rabbit with a dog in there. His corner looked disgusted with him. I doubt they'll be working together after this.

...he might not be working at this particular job, period, after this.

2nd best Cuban pro heavyweight, IMO, after Perez.

Yes, better than Solis. (or Gomez & Jones when their fat asses were campaigning up north of 200lbs)

Pulling for Barrett to score the win tonight.
