http://www.foxsports.com.au/other-s...ublic-appearance/story-fn5k3jul-1226323698407 thought this was disgraceful
http://www.sportal.com.au/other-sports-opinion-display/ali-criticism-unwarranted-and-unfair-171036 much better
second article is well written for sure! shame on thos reporters for talkin about Ali's wife parading him around n sayin he shold be kept in the shadows.
what a disgrace, fox are morons, muppets for blokes like Danny Green and Mundine. They dont have a clue about boxing, pretty much like most Danny Green fans. whats sad about this crap is a thread about Danny Green being called a bogan will get more attention than a thread displaying fox's disgracful comments of a living boxing ledgend who changed the sport forever.
you just mentioned danny green 3 times in a thread about muhammad ali. But those muppets on the back page are always saying stupid **** like this its a farce really
I actually watched the episode and it wasn't said in any way near how it's been reported and to a large degree, taken out of context. From my perspective, I actually agree with them and didn't take any offence as whilst Ali being 'The Greatest' he was, looked shocking, shaking quite terribly and I pity'd him watching it, I really did. The comments about his wife were intended, or I took them to be intended as it being should she be not allowing it order to protect his memory and image, and to be frank was it doing him any good doing it now? If everyone who's on here lauding him as the legend of boxing, well to be frank, it's not the best look is it really of how you want people to see the potential effects of boxing. If you were watching and were a mainstreamer and hadn't seen Ali for years, you'd actually be quite shocked and taken aback. It doesn't say a lot for boxing. For a large part of Ali's condition, I blame his corner and handlers who just kept ringing that towel out for every last droplet of money they could get with his name. A lot of them should be ****ing ashamed of themselves. I don't know, again, I watched the episode and the comments weren't made the way the written story has sensationalised it or at least in my opinion anyway.
I know Crash Craddock (the one with the 'sickening' quote) and he's a true gentleman and a respectable journalist. Obviously the whole point of the show is to generate discussion. But the the way they went about it stunk of bad taste. The talked about about Ali like an unsightly burns victim being used for shock value. The whole attitude is indicative of society today. Once someone can no longer contribute we want them out of sight and out of mind. Yes it's horrible see him suffering, but he's still Muhammad Ali.
And boxing is what it is. It's horribly unhealthy. It's brutal and barbaric and that's why I love it. For me, there's no point being in denial or worrying about what the mainstream think. Sure it's easy to look at Ali and see his condition as an indictment of the sport. But I see a man who sacrificed everything in the pursuit of greatness. If Ali had his time again I bet he'd walk straight back into that gym as a 10-year-old kid.
ali-frazier fights were the most brutal 2 way contests i ever saw. considering they were HEAVYWEIGHTS.....
still not proven that boxing is the cause of how he is, michael j fox has the same disease and how many fights has he been in, doctors are guessin, doctors that dont like boxing will always say thats wat caused it, ali is a legend, but we are all gunna get old one day & each of us will have different problems
Ask Freddie Roach, a no nonsense walk up type of fighter. Around 200 fights, 53 of them in the professional ranks. All of his amateur fights without headgear. Who knows how many rounds sparred in training. He was probably very lucky he was advised to give boxing away at the relatively young age of 26 yrs for health reasons. Take your pick, Parkinsons or some form of brain stem trauma. There's no doubt it's boxing related.
roach obviously had a medical problem, and i have seen ex fighters that are 'punch drunk', everyone is diff, there are thousands of fighters who have no problems, all i said was that it is STILL not proven that ali's problem was from boxing,
But then boxing people whinge and moan that boxing get's no mainstream support/coverage. The image depicted of Ali the other night on the TV is exactly why boxing will never be mainstream.
