I always had this comparison in my head but until Saturday night I felt Carl hadn't quiet earned the right for me to openly talk about it

So what are you thoughts? both like to fight on the back foot, both aren't scared to take a punch if it means getting one off them selves, both aren't afraid to let their hands go and both have skills and technique to burn, can come forward when required and both have great chins :bbb

    So.....

    Is this a fair comparison?

JMM is an ATG we know this

I am talking about fundamental fighting styles as opposed to talent levels

Oh yes and willingness to travel :bbb

Yeah, I think they have similar styles. Frampton doesn't quite have the combinations though.

JMM is a better counter and combination puncher.

Well, for one Marquez would of destroyed Leo Santa Cruz with ease! So yeah, let's not go comparing. Marquez is a bad man, a dangerous counter puncher.
A Mexican great.Frampton has a lot to prove it's too early.

Well they're both counter punchers and they can hit, that's about it for me. They both have stylistic nuances that set them apart, also it doesn't need to be mentioned but JMM is pretty much a level above in all aspects.

Frampton did look pretty Marquezlike. Frampton is a thinker in there like Marquez, he knows how to set his guy up and pick his spots, and like you suggested he typically patiently boxes on his back foot but will tactically step in and engage with combos. He won because like Marquez he stayed cool when it was a war. Can't compare him as a counter puncher to Marquez though.
