    Did he though?

He looked flustered with Kiko's pressure early doors but fair play to him for finding the KO.

If they are pinning their hopes on Quigg finding the same punch then it's a risky game plan IMO.

  2. Boxed perfectly to a game plan and stopped him early as Gallagher said they would. Couldn't have done much else?

Some will say Frampton had softened up Martinez, Frampton had already beaten him twice before Quigg got to him.

I personally thought it was a very good performance by Quigg but it all depends how you want to spin it.

I thought he looked like he was struggling with Kiko's pressure.

Granted I have never watched it back and as I said fair play to him for finding the KO.

I'm not sure Frampton will come at him the way Kiko did though.

  5. Does that mean Munroe softened him up for Frampton? It's all largely irrelevant, but measuring on performances I fail to see how Frampton's are much more impressive.

He'll probably do the complete opposite and invite Quigg on to him, then counter him.

Out of the two, you get the feeling Frampton will hold his nerve on fight night.

    It is what it is.
    One fighter looked razor sharp.
    The other ponderous and 'forced'.

No 'reading too much ' there - just readily observable facts.

I'm not sure you can say frampton had softened him up or he would have ko'd him in the second fight. I remember Shane saying Carl knocked him out and once a fighter has been knocked out then it's easier to knock them out again but that's a bit contradictory as frampton couldn't ko him the second time. If quiggs punch was a fluke then surely framptons punch in the first fight could equally have been a fluke and that's why he couldn't ko him in the second fight. I bet Santa Cruz doesn't finish him inside 2 rounds

Its impossible to be specific obviously.
But a likely scenario is, very crudely, this:

CF starts fast giving SQ lots of foot movement and peppering the advancing SQ with jabs.

After 4/5 rounds SQ will be told/will realise that he is falling too far behind and will be forced to go for it.

Sheer agression toughness willpower and size will enable SQ to win a few rounds in the middle. But he will be taking shots even in the rounds he is winning, and these will take a toll..
    Carl UD 12 approx 8-4 in rounds(116-112).

(A late stoppage by Carl is not out of the question here)

Quigg wont lose every minute of every round - though at times it will seem like that....:p

Interesting opinion. I think frampton fades in the second half of the fight. Do you think he will manage a full 12 at a good pace?

Styles make fights, so i don't read much into common opponents. As another poster said, you can spin it any way you like....

    Frampton beat kiko before Quigg.

    Munroe beat kiko before Frampton

Quigg beat the ribs out of Munroe.

Frampton took 9 rounds to finish the job.

    Quigg took less than 2.

and on, and on, and on......

Gallagher knew kiko would come bulling forward and try to overwhelm Quigg, as did most people who've seen Kiko fight, and he had Quigg set the perfect trap.

Watch the first round properly, and what you'll see is Kiko plodding forward swingning wildly, and Quigg moving backwards and hitting him with counters, notably the left jab and overhand right, Kiko is clearly throwing more leather, but most of it is hitting Quiggs elbows and gloves.

Except for the two good shots Kiko lands in the last 30 seconds, most of what he did was just march forward swinging aimlessly.

The Frampton Quigg fight will be nothing like Frampton martinez, or Quigg Martinez.
