People not giving Hirales enough credit, by the way. The guy had a really good chin, and wasn't going to take a backward step. He was better than most of the guys you get at European level, he's a benchmark for whether you're going to be competing at world class IMO. He didn't seem to have a lot of snap in his punches but he threw enough and had the type of nous and toughness that the average Euro import doesn't have, thats priceless experience at this stage. Sets him up perfect for the Martinez match IMO.
I sort of got the impression watching Hirales's facial expressions and demeanour about the ring that he had the mentality of Frampton wasn't really showing him nothing he hadn't either seen in his fights so far, or the gyms in Mexico. And that he wasn't too impressed by his power. Which is a good thing, I don't think you can say that about anybody Carl has faced. I think that changed as the fight progressed, and Frampton had a good end to the fight and I think he did hurt Hirales with a couple towards the end. This was definitely a good learning fight.
Yeah, the last 3 rounds Carlos really started digging in the left hook to the body, and threw in 2's and 3's instead of pot shotting (No Kevin Mitchell).
I agree, my post was aimed at people saying that Carl shouldn't be rushed rather than a pop at Frampton
Nahh I can't see that tbh, frampton can outbox him, and if frampton landed some of the shots he was last night, Quigg would be laid out
Good point, and no doubt some lower weights have fought for world titles with fewer than ten fights under their belt.
