I agree to an extent, however May 30th last year was a great example for me. A slightly 'iffy' PPV given the headliner was Frankie Gavin taking a shellacking for 5 rounds, and nothing particularly electric on the undercard (chief support being AJ against OAP Kevin Johnson); but I was happy to pay the £40 for a ticket for the night out and the atmosphere, which is usually decent at the O2. I probably wouldn't have paid £17 to watch it on telly, to be frank. Had that been a Joshua/Martin however then I'd probably have to shell out £100+ to have a chance of getting a ticket (I ended up getting lucky and getting some through Sky in the end), which does, I agree make it 'even better value' that it's only £17 to watch it, but for 'normal' demand, I'd be more willing to buy a cheap ticket to watch it than PPV given the above.
Again each to their own. For me Rule Britannia was one of the best PPVs I've bought. I'd got my 17 quid worth long before the main event (plus a few came came round so it actually cost me about a quid). I like Selby and enjoyed his fight, and the Mitchell fight was a good s**** as well (helps when its Brits going for World Titles rather than routine defenses admittedly). AJ and Kells fights were more showcases than anything, and for me that's fine after you've had the other 2 fights. I also saw that card as a triple header rather than just Gavin in the main event which probably made it an easier sell to me. Plus I hadn't bought Mayweather - Pacman so hadn't been "stung" by that just 3 weeks earlier.
Sshhhhhhh you can't say you pay for ppvs on here without being labels a Eddie Hearn lover, I'm in the camp of £16 quid doesn't really bother me every few months plus a box nation subscription and I'm too selfish I guess to not caring that my ppv purchase probably helps in getting another ppv on the tv in a few months, if I don't like what's on ppv I won't order it, simple
Eddie Hearns fault Anyone who knows boxing knew the fight was nvr going to be a barnburner. It was always going to be cagey due to the magnitude of the fight, the length of the time it built up and their careers were riding on it to a certain extent. That coupled with Quigg being like a rabbit in the head lights for 6 rounds If there had have been 1 decent fight on the UC it would have saved the PPV but Eddie wouldnt spend the money He didnt learn from Bellew vs Cleverley.... and yet its the fighters who take the stick A win in the fight like that is a win, the boxers do not give a dam how its won
May i add i was ringside for the fight, it was a fantastic night and one ill not forget in a long time
