Lets be honest Frampton v Warrington will be a boring fight that goes to points they have had months but haven't even been able to sell out this would be the weakest PPV show ever so should be free to air
Yeah man i think everyone agrees this shouldn't be ppv..but it is. You just gonna have to suck it up and move on.
Sorry for that but its bizarre that Frampton v Warrington should ever be a PPV as this is at best is a free to air fight and when it flops BT on PPV they will reconsider their involvement with boxing
A lot of fights arnt Ppv worthy imo but they seem to sell. As long as they don't lose money the promoters will carry on delivering them.
Is it just me or did Frank get the timing of this wrong? (No, not because of Eddie Hearn and Whyte v Chisora). They’ve sort of rushed straight in to this, it just doesn’t seem right, the location and everything. Warrington has only just become champion and his first defence is a voluntary against Frampton? Don’t mean any disrespect here but Carl is leagues above in terms of ability, yes Josh has a big heart and should never be wrote off though. Could Warrington not be trusted to have a mandatory or a voluntary this winter and Frampton maybe either have a tune up over the winter too or face Valdes and win an actual world title instead of the interim one? Then in the summer, May/June you’ve got the Elland Road / Windsor Park option. A home fighter, more ticket sales, the fight has simmered for a little bit, it’s a potential unification too. It just seems all wrong.
I think the Selby defeat came as a surprise to Warren and perhaps Frampton too. It seems like they'd already made the plans for Frampton Selby and perhaps agreed with BT Sport as well a big winter fight. Warrington initially pushed back on the timing and perhaps they've had to incentivise him to take this.
Frampton’s stated that he only has about 3 fights left including a wish to step up in weight and try and win another world title. I think the lad is in a rush and Warren had no choice but to make this fight sooner rather than letting it stew. It’s a shame that it’s ppv without the Sky thing added to it, cos it’s an absolutely brilliant, intriguing fight. They get some disrespect from some boxing fans because of their physical stature but these lads are warriors. Northern Ireland and West Yorkshire don’t care that these lads are small. I don’t think Japan cares that their great hope ‘Inoue’ is only 5”5. One of the finest fighters on the planet (Loma) is only 5”7. Whilst i’m looking forward to seeing Whyte and Chisora have a brawl let’s also remember that they don’t have a fraction of the skill levels of the lads mentioned above. I’ve gone so far off the point that I’ve forgotten what I was on about. Balls to it, i’m just pressing ‘post reply’.
Haha. I think the point was basically Frampton wants to take Warrington ASAP. Then he will unify in the summer v Valdes then step up in weight later on in the year and try and win another title before riding off in to the sunset.
Bang on, cheers mate. I was trying to type a reply whilst I could hear my missus moodily clattering about whinging, so I was preoccupied haha.
It's probably a good thing, a few PPVs bombing will do us viewers the world of good when promoters realise with added competition they have to be more picky with their PPV choices or stack the deck to make it worthwhile.
Yeah, I agree with all of this. Not much about the fight makes sense. A lot of Warren's big names have had a fairly poor/nondescript year, and presumably BT have asked for another big fight in 2018.
On reflection, it was abit of a poor post myself so my apologies about that. I just felt at the time that there was already similar threads up already. To answer your topic, no it shouldn’t be a PPV, but it’s a very intriguing, high level fight for an actual world title between 2 skilful fighters who usually give us entertaining scraps. For that reason I’m not going to knock it, especially as they already have some entertaining looking fights on the undercard.
