Yeah, and I have a little story of regret about Death and Chuck, one of my best friends that was 2 years older than me was obsessed with Death and finagled his way into being one of their roadies a little after he graduated, he called me and said he was going to get me tickets, but I turned him down, because I was busy thinking there'd be a next time, and he was diagnosed with brain cancer soon after.:ohno

That sucks, did your boy also roadie for Control Denied? Or did they never get an opportunity to actually tour, I can't remember?

No, he didn't, I'm pretty sure they never got a chance to tour, IIRC Chuck got sick right after releasing the CD.

I know people were pissed about the "less brutal" direction they were going (as usually happens with meathead fan-bases in metal, like evolving to develop a more complex and melodic palette is a bad thing... We saw the same thing happen with Carcass' excellent Swansong thrown under the bus and underappreciated for its time, as well as the latter-day output from Sentenced after switching vocalists, all of Dax Riggs' brilliant side & solo projects' stuff after he folded Acid Bath, etc.) but I would've loved to hear a few more CD records. Death put out seven great studio albums, calling it quits at exactly the right time so as to not mar their legacy.

In hindsight Chuck did it the smart way, re-branding with a different name despite having a lot of the same personnel onboard instead of releasing Fragile Art of Existence under the Death banner, avoiding the mudslinging that Carcass & Sentenced (and Celtic Frost, among numerous others) received for "betraying the fans" with their maturer-era stylistic departures, but at the same time even artists that went that route have taken flack over it (such as Riggs), so who knows what the right answer is? Just never evolve, I guess. Just be Slayer for instance, doing the same thing and trotting your fat middle-aged Christian bodies out to play your 80's thrash classics with dated "edgy" Satanic lyrics alongside "new" songs that sound like watered-down versions of exactly the same thing decades later.

Couldn't agree more, I'm very mutable when it comes to music, far from some extremist purist (sorry UTF), as long as its not too jarring a la blackaciddevil and Danzig 4. Change and evolution is good in metal, familiarity breeds contempt, which is exactly why every Slayer record since God Hates Us All, has bored the **** out of me, and why its damn near impossible to make it through more than 3 Dragonforce songs in a row. In the words of Andre Linoge.... hell is repetition.

I'd much rather watch Wallin-Granat, and Schwarz-Gashi on saturday night over the Khan-Greco bill as well

Completely agree, both genuine toss ups, quite frankly its a hard call to pick a winner in either. Whereas barring a lucky punch, Lo Greco has no chance.

Dude, have you seen the lines?

Narváez is an 18/1 underdog - almost half as wide as Lo Greco (who's a shade under 10/1) :shakehead:
