Check out how active of a fighter he is... I love watching Damiani do his stuff.

Damiani was good. Wish he'd been a bit more active with a longer career.

Who nose what might have happened if he hadn’t injured himself in training and fought Holyfield — Bert Cooper stepped in as a late sub and made things interesting.

Damiani was a very good fighter. Would have loved to see him vs Ruddock, Holyfield and Bowe. Pity his nose was broken by that Mercer uppercut.

Please have a trigger warning for me when posting footage of Johnny Du Plooy getting hammered relentlessly.

He was an intriguing obscurity . Wasn’t a fighters I had seen or heard much of until he fought Mercer on that prospect super card in 1991. Pryer to that I had only seen his name in ring magazine and heard it briefly mentioned here and there on boxing networks when commentators were making past references. What made him unique is that he was one of the few euro fighters of the late eighties and early nineties who actually had a solid rating ( Bruno was temporarily gone and Lewis was just coming up. ) His boxing skills looked sold and he had decent power behind his shots yet hardly had the physique of a world class fighter, or any fighter for that matter. I agree with some who say that it would have been interesting if he had gotten some bigger fights sooner. I believe he was already 32 when he fought Mercer and perhaps 34 when he fought McCall.

I was very interested in him in the late 80s .A very underwhelming physical looking fighter .looked like a bloke who worked in chip shop but was a good boxer who could also fight when he needed too . Euro fights against Bruno or mason would of been interesting as would fights against top American fighters of that time. A few upsets would be possible.

He only lost to Mercer and McCall. I need to watch those fights, I believe he was winning on the scorecards in both if I'm not mistaken?

I think Olver was working him over... he was definitely up against Mercer....

He was way up against Mercer, but I think most had him losing to McCall. It was an unfortunate matchup for Damiani since Oliver was at or near his best that night, and McCall ended up giving him a real ****ing thrashing.

If only he didn't have that semi-aquiline, Italian nose, he would have beat Mercer and gone on to the big-time.
