Nobody know this but Damiani was beating Mercer badly until Mercer offered him $100,000 to take a dive so Damiano took him to have the check written and sent to his corner when the check was delivered F.D. went down...Damiani won every rd until the $$$ was delivered
hatDon't laugh......... Frank Damiani was a decent sized, talented heavyweight.... He fits right in with Joe Louis' title reign of the 40s.......... Of course Louis wins this fictional fight, but not without a struggle...... Interesting.... :good MR.BILL
That's actually true, but his one glaring weakness was that he couldn't handle punchers - which means he's fodder for Louis.
I see that too........ However, due to his ability to box, Damiani goes several, if not many, rds with Louis before he gets TKO'd....... He would NOT be an early KO victim cuz of his boxing skill........ "Louis-Damiani" is VERY interesting...... Louis of '38 versus Damiani of 1990 is a fantastic match-up.......... Damiani was beating Mercer pretty well until Mercer finally found that fragile beak of Damiani in around the 9th stanza back in 1991.... MR.BILL:deal
This is a farce. Damiani was a gatekeeper who may have been tough for a few rounds, but he didn't have enough tools to be more than competitive. He didn't punch hard enough to keep Louis from unloading on him, and he was fast enough to get away from the leather that Joe would have laid on him. It would have been a complete bloodbath until the fight was probably stopped or Damiani got ko'd.
You say Damiani could Punch? Actually his power was below average along with his shaky chin. Good boxing skills though ill give you that.
Damiani ko's Louis with fewer punches than Marciano threw. Next to Richard Dunn, Damiani is probably th best ever.
"Every time I hear the name Joe Louis my nose starts to bleed." Damiani would repeat these famous words of Tommy Farr's after this bout, except he would be battered to a stoppage after suffering a badly broken nose.
You're ****ing crazy! Damiani had decent skills but he wasn't great at any particular thing... except for maybe eating at that eatery you mentioned. Damiani outboxed Ray Mercer for 8+ rounds before getting KTFO. So what, Mercer wasn't the hardest guy in the world to outbox. Who did Damiani beat that was worth a ****? An old Greg Page? A never was Frankie Swindell? Johnny Duplooy? Tyrell Biggs? James Broad? I guess it's the 5th round stoppage over Biggs huh? Biggs was stopped in 7 by a prime Mike Tyson. Damiani stopped Biggs in 5 in Biggs very next fight! Damiani must be better than Tyson! Biggs hadn't fought in over a year, had the crap kicked out of him by Tyson inhis last fight, and the fight was stopped on a cut (it's not like Damiani put him out). Biggs lost his next fight by 7th round stoppage... Biggs wasn't much. Get a life. Billy Conn would have boxed circles around Damiani. Louis might have killed him.
