    he went very close to becoming an olympic gold medalist too....a split decision against tyrell biggs, and biggs was no joke...damaini had his revenge in the pro's too...

    i havent seen the fight where mc call beat him, i'd like to...it's a pity we didnt see him against better names...from what i seen of him, he was alright.

    Damiani had a fight set up with hoylfield for the title in the early 90s but he pulled out of it right before the fight.Its a pity the fight never took place

    At his best he was one of the better gatekeepers/solid contenders of the 1990s.

    Holyfield would have brutally beaten him up with vicious combinations.

    Foreman was to fight Damiani in a second Tyson double header . Foreman became enraged when Don King refused to make it a WBO title fight .Damiani had to lightly regarded title but felt it would give Foreman too much negotiation leverage in a fight with Mike Tyson and made it a 10 round non title bout . Foreman had it with King and his demands when ever a Tyson fight was near .His previous demand Foreman had to sign with him .

    I liked him and was rooting for him during the Mercer fight. Good well rounded boxer with decent skills and power. Couldn’t take a hit very well though.

    Damiani was the Lorenzo Zanon of his generation.
