Yeeeeah buddy! Ya boy just knocked out one of the (AT LEAST) top ten best Italian heavyweight boxers with the first name Francesco since Damiani.

(At least, maybe even top 5)

There is a realistic chance now that we know that the Stiverne fight hasnt been agreed yet...

I wonder if Kevin Johnson will be ringside for Wilder/Stiverne 2

He was born in Cosenza. His official nationality is listed as Italian on every site that profiles him.

    From his wiki page:

"Despite being a long-time Germany resident, Pianeta has held close ties with Italy and has stated that his ambition is to win the Italian heavyweight title."

There is nothing German about him, the same Johnny Depp was never French. Where you reside for a while (never forsaking your original citizenship) isn't what you are. Or would you call Wladimir Klitschko a "German"? (or American, since he also holds residence here ;))

Was it the "Francesco" or the "Pianeta" that sounded more ethnically German than Italian to you?

I bet if he'd been a destroyer the Germans would have been falling over their own feet to claim him ...

There is a part of italy in the north which is called "South Tirol". They are more austrians than italians and speaking german as her mother language. Its a very different culture than the other parts of italy. A little bit like Catalonia (Spain) or Quebec (Canada).

This was a great fight, hopefully Johnson will win again tonight.

I just watched the official scorecards of the fight with Pianeta before the stoppage :

    Leszek Jankowiak 59-55 | Uwe Lorch 58-56 | Matteo Montella 58-56

All in favour of ... Pianeta :nut:

Kingpin was getting robbed badly here... Fortunately his power saved him once again.

I also found out that Pianeta is fighting on the same card tonight, against a 1-0 novice.

If both men come out victorious, we might actually get a rematch of this great fight.
