LOL you don't even know what you're talking about, I new you were going to try and bring up Overeems chin. I'd be surprised if you had even watched more then a few of his fights because at best your a boxing fan boy with not even a basic understanding of other combat sport but I'm sure you will keep dribbling **** anyway. So moron you really think Ngannous KO of Overeem which was voted KO of the year by a lot of people was nothing everybody in the top 15 would have been able to? Can you point out even 1 fighter that has KO'd Overeem that wasn't 1 of the biggest hitters? When Ngannou beat him at UFC 218 Overeem was still top 2 in the world and has been at least top 10 Heavyweight in 2 combat sport the last 8-10 years.
Ngannou is a legit top contender. Plenty of people are hating on him. He can only beat who they put in front of him. It's not his fault that UFC is desperate for new stars and talent. UFC is a multibillion dollar company so of course they will advertise and hype up the little talent that they do have.
Yeah he is absolutely a top contender. But has a lot of question marks behind him - Namely chin and cardio(we haven't seen him go past 2 rounds or pushed) But if you think the hype for this guy isn't ridiculous then I don't know what to tell you. Other big punching contenders Johnson and Oezedmir didn't get anywhere near this kind of absurd hype going into their first title fight. I get selling a product and hyping a fight, but they've gone overboard here. It's nauseating to a lot of long time fans anyways.
Slightly different scenarios with those two. Rumble had issues prior to blossoming at light heavyweight, and Mnuwa isn't the equivalent of Overeem in my opinion, in regards to Ozdemir. Fans are adding to the hype quite a bit, and haters especially are, as they make more people go look up who is the big guy from Africa everyone is talking about. Nothing wrong with building a good hype. This is the type of fight we want to see right? Two power pumchers, who throw hands, with little grappling or wrestling.
Rumble's absolute pummeling of Davis, and 1st round stoppages over Gustafsson and Nog(these were the 3 fights he had prior to DC I) were more impressive than Ngannou's UFC run thus far. As for VO... The guy is overhyped by fans and the UFC - but he's certain the worse of the "apocalyptic punching" title challengers at LHW and HW that have came along recently. He's crap and will only have a slight punchers chance early on. I've seen him lose in Bellator to a mediocre wrestler and scored his debut against OSP twice both times 29-28 against him. Actually I think grappling/wrestling will be key if Miocic is to upset(minor underdog) the odds. Ngannou is untested in that department and may be like a fish out of water if he isn't able to blast Miocic out early like many anticipate. Miocic would be unwise to engage in a brawl here, and I doubt that's the gameplan he'll be looking to execute.
Lil Nog? When is the last time he had done anything? Rumble beat Davis, don't recall a pummeling though. Davis' punch defense was fairly good that night. Johnson more outworked him, no? The Gustafferson beat down was impressive. I'll take it that those two wins combined are better than just beating Overeem. I disagree with him being the worse of the "apocalyptic punching" title challengers at LHW and HW. To try and suggest that Manure, is a better fighter than Ngannou is laughable. We don't disagree with Ozdemir. What has Ozdelmir done, besides beat the Khan chinned Manure? At least Ngannou punched the sensor harder than anybody else so far, and knocks his opponents around when he lands shots. He has several stoppages where his punches literally changed the opponents momentum.
I'm talking purely about VO here. I never suggested that Manuwa is a better fighter than Ngannou, although time will tell as to whether he's a flash in the pan type or not.
McGregor was supposed to be a devastating puncher with a deadly left hand that could trouble anyone, which in MMA is true. But we saw against Mayweather that by boxing standards he punches like a girl and even Amir Khan would laugh at his best shots and walk through them.
