Tim Sylvia didn't respect Mercer's power in the octagon. He thought he'd take him down where he had no experience and beat him up on the ground. He got laid out cold too.

 

Has anyone ever seen a novice boxer go in and have success against an elite world level be it sparring or otherwise? Just curious because this idea just doesn't seem to die

Wilder has a better jab and Francis has never fought a hard puncher with a reach like that, plus MMA gloves add power to shots, Conor`s power was far less effective with big boxing gloves.

I don't think this fight is going to take place next year. Fury plans to become unified heavyweight champion and Francis is waiting for his title shot. He will have to defeat Stipe and become UFC heavyweight champion first to qualify for a fight with Fury. Otherwise it won’t be interesting for Fury at all. But if it ever will take place, I will definitely watch the fight.

Besides that, I find the whole idea of cross fights between boxers, kickboxers and mixed martial artists very interesting and I do like to see this kind of fights happen more often. For example, I would like to see Glory Kickboxing heavyweight champ Rico Verhoeven make the transition to the UFC. Francis Ngannou vs Rico Verhoeven is an interesting match-up. Very hard to predict the outcome of that one!

 

Most likely but of the MMA Vs boxer match ups this is one of the more interesting fights that could be made IMO.
