Vargas Peláez is marching Salka down, letting the jab be repeatedly buried in between his eyebrows and light hooks clap him on the sideburns. Desperate flurries by Salka, burning rubber, spiraling around the entire perimeter. Vargas Peláez is unable to plant anything on him as heavily as in the 5th but is keeping his foot on the gas pedal and pressuring as Salka finds it difficult to stay in one spot for more than a moment to set himself to punch. Not a bad showing by Salka, all things considered, having not fought anybody remotely world class in almost four years and trying to cut to such an unfamiliar weight (has only come under the super feather limit a couple of times in his career)

 

I'd say no, usually, but tonight's Hopkins is probably worse than any version of Atlas we have ever heard, and that's saying a mouthful.

Rommel Caballero vs. Eric Rodriguez, 4 rounds @ super featherweight

 

E-Rod isn't ****ing around, he's looking to put that Hakeem Olajuwon stank on Caballero's debut.

Caballero is swinging his left arm merrily at his side, already showboating a bit, finding out in a hurry that Rodriguez is deadly serious and throwing hard combos at him, jabs & overhand rights. Caballero is putting on the earmuffs and leaning in, jabbing and hooking at the chest. Rodriguez is working uppercuts inside. Head clash, both are cut.

10-9 Rodriguez, saw more sizzle than steak from Caballero, the kid wasn't really willing to work for the bulk of the full 3 minutes; Rodriguez was hungrier...neither did much clean work.

 

Lame. Rodriguez's corner asks for the fight to be stopped, unclear whether this is going to be a NC or ruled a RTD/TKO in favor of Caballero.
