Where is Vargas fanfare for taking on tough fight after tough fight?
Right now Mikey Garcia is the most talked about fighter in blogs and websites but Vargas just got his face beat in for 12 rounds and he gets nothing.
Everytime I think that Mayweather was slightly off on his opinions of boxing fans the more he is proven right. I don't know how much Vargas has been getting paid, but it is not enough for the schedule he has been fighting under.

    Takashi Miura
    - beat had a huge cut on his eye and was knocked down. Very tough fight he went on to win by TKO.
Orlando Salido-MD, Nuff said. We all know that Salido is the king litmus test of 126-130.
Miguel Berchelt- An unknown fighter that busted up Vargas face pretty bad and stopped him on his feet in the 12th round. He has not fought anyone of note and was the WBO interim super featherweight champion before being offered a chance to fight for the 130 WBC title.

Vargas was battle fatigued. Just like Roman Martinez was when he fought Lomachenko. They go out and fight fresher fighters who have been on cruise control fighting lower opposition and basically hand their titles over because they need money and can't properly rest up.

I like Vargas, it's just he cuts and bleeds too easy. He was doing extremely well until getting cut up. He's a tough cookie.

trainer, manager, promoter should keep you out of back to back wars. Every fighter no matter who just has so many of those in them.

Berchelt wasn't a complete unknown. Prospect watchers had pegged him as future world champ material as long as 3-4 yrs ago. Then he lost to Flores and there was the usual abandon-ship mentality of bandwagon fans but a few of us assessed it more like "okay, troubling setback for sure but doesn't automatically preclude him from making good on that potential" - and then ever since he improved and pretty much has been a beast.

Berchelt had seized momentum before the scar tissue opened up.

I rate Vargas I do think it's important for boxers to not get involved in too many back to back wars because it ruins them. He should have taken a softer opponent rather than a dangerous contender in Berchelt because no one would have said anything negative about it after his last two fights.

Nevertheless, What a warrior the guy will go down as a Mexican legend in terms of heart & memorable fights. Hope it's not the end for him at world level.

Thanks for warning me not to pick Vargas! You've probably seen every match the guys ever had on every obscure channel ever. :risas3:

Fighters do get respect for taking on beast after beast. But only if they win. Boxing fans are brutal. So many won't give you credit for tough losses and putting all on the line for the fans. If you don't win to them it's a useless fight for you.

    That's disgusting to me.

I thought Vargas was boxing very nice from 2nd round on, using timing and nice fluid combinations, but from the opening round Vargas was getting hit very hard and it was evident early on that he wasn't going to be able to sustain that punishment unless he slowed Belchert down, which he failed to do.

At second watch, I saw Vargas fighting very uncomfortably despite some of his success. RJJ was spot on once again with his analysis.

Great fight nonetheless. The better fighter that night definitely won.

I like to think that the fighter should be able to carve out the legacy they wants and ultimately decide who they want to fight. I hate it went Managers and Promoters have too much say in their fighter's career like the way Arum controls Pacquiao, and K2 controls GGG.

I hate to burst your bubble but he isn't going down as a legend. He will be forgotten in the next 5 years you can trust me on that by then his brain will be turned into oatmeal and "fans" such as yourself wont be there to clean his s%%%.

He will now follow the career path as jesus soto karass, this fight has finished him

Vargas is one of the few left, if he still fights again, that takes on top notch opposition without no excuses or side stepping bro.
Amazing fight and tons of respect :clap2::clapclap::devil-flip:

You are incorrect. Mexican fighters get love in Mexico. Francisco Vargas seems very smart and eloquent. He carries himself like a gentleman in and out of the ring and says the right things. I'm sure he'll join his compatriots and soon be offered the opportunity to be a commentator of some sort. That or he can do like many Mexican fighters have done with their money and invest it and run a business outside of boxing.
