All that really did for Miura was set him up for a big opportunity (maybe the Vargas rematch) where, based on this performance, his decline will see him chewed up & spat out.

Love his grit though. (and Mickey's)

 

It did for like half a second, I had already fixed it before you quoted me. Such a pet peeve of mine, people doing that over the years. Like, ****ing refresh the page first at least once if something looks like a probably mistake on my part. No need to put me on immediate blast.

Round 1

Berchelt is circling outside, jittery, hands up. Vargas is jabbing and performing undulating dip & rolls in place with his legs stationary. Berchelt is jabbing into Vargas' elbows, making him watch the birdie, not headhunting yet, just feinting. Overhand right from Berchelt, missing. Vargas is jabbing first and punching on top of all of Berchelt's attempts, stifling him. Solid 1-2 by Vargas. Berchelt gets in a pair of well-timed lead rights on the jaw. Double left hook on the ribs by Vargas. Flush right from Berchelt. Jabs traded at mid-range, Vargas landing better. A few jab attempts from Berchelt stifled by Vargas tossing a quicker jab to slam the door in his face.

Round 2

Berchelt is doubling jabs and thrusting in a right hand, leaping forward. Vargas is backing up and swaying to either side to dodge as needed while countering with body hooks. Heavy body shot from Berchelt. Vargas circles in on him and scores a few jabs. Left hook rocks Vargas off-balance. He shakes it off instantly. They fight in a phonebooth and Vargas starts pushing Berchelt back but is rocked by another left hook on the cheek. Uppercut & hook combo by Berchelt blocked. Vargas hurt by the follow-up attempt. BIG LEFT HOOK downstairs by Berchelt, thudding loudly. Overhand right by Vargas, stunning Berchelt and corralling him into the ropes. Huge left hook from Berchelt.

Berchelt is shoving his way in, arms glued to his face. Big lead right hands from Berchelt up top. Vargas is doubling his jab and falling in with scalpel rights along the ear. Body flurries by Vargas on the inside. Heavy left hooks on the temple by Berchelt. Vargas' head getting jacked around. Vargas throwing flashy combos to head and body but not slowing Berchelt down at all, and getting dazed by the fewer but harder hooks of Berchelt.
