Berchelt is marching through Vargas' jabs and sending massive straight right hands down the pneumatic tube, into Vargas' cheek bone. Head clash. Vargas cut. Vargas tries jabbing and sidestepping to slow Berchelt down but can't shake him. Berchelt is slowly but steadily working in and landing hard power shots. Good body work by Vargas, sidling up to Berchelt and keeping his offense neutralized while he tucks his elbows to defend.

Round 5

Berchelt is now boxing at range, popping jabs and baiting Vargas to step to him. Vargas can't get leverage on his body shots anymore, not the pursuer. Berchelt is now the one landing counter body shots while bouncing his heels off the canvas, lying in wait to ambush. Vargas gets in close and fires off a threshing combo at Berchelt's belly while crouching forward. Berchelt punches with a hard right through a Vargas jab, deflecting it and scoring partially in one motion.

Round 6

Berchelt is laying it on Vargas, ignoring his jabs and body combos. Vargas is getting raked across the ring, blocking much of what Berchelt throws but still getting manhandled and overwhelmed so much that he can barely get a punch in, just fighting in bursts.

Round 7

Another headbutt, another cut. Berchelt is playing jab patty-cake with Vargas, canceling out the champion's jab and finding a home for his own right hand. Vargas is trotting in reverse to get full extension on his 1-2 but isn't getting many chances to do so, with Berchelt always stalking and breathing down his neck. Left hook chopping down on the neck from Berchelt. Vargas is trying for an equalizer left hook on the body, missing however as he turns it over from too far outside and with too much forewarning in his wind-up.

Round 8

Berchelt and Vargas are taking turns jabbing and waving out hooks at each other, no snap, just generating minimal pop from the elbow down. As they warm up they start digging in and sitting down on their shots, up close. Both now throwing big hooks at the back of one another's head and ripping hard underhanded body shots. Berchelt landing a bit more authoritatively, connects about even.
