Okay, sooner rather than later (ie before Flores retires), Berchelt needs to hunt down that Colombian glass cannon that dealt him the only loss of his career so far and make haste to avenge that so that he can be marketed by HBO as an "improving young fighter with a KO percentage nearing ninety, who has beaten every man he has shared the ring with".

Then, boom, they have a new star to replace the one whose light we just seemed to see begin to diminish in Vargas.

Very little risk for the reward, either (obviously the Scorpion can take a hit, after taking everything Vargas could offer) if he just pencils this in for a tune-up/stay-busy date. He gets to prove his sole defeat a fluke (probably due more to inexperience and underdeveloped skills defensively far more than chin), look beastly, jack up his KO %, and reach that distinction of technically "beating everyone he faced".

So, next super featherweight doubleheader this Spring, basically just a dosey-do partner-swap of this card? Berchelt vs. Miura with Bandido vs. Mickey Román in chief support?

RJJ favors Miura over Berchelt. Interesting.

    lol @ the HBO schedule..

Cotto vs. Kirkland, GGG vs. Jacobs, and Lemieux vs. Stevens all on regular subscription cable, and then Canelo vs. JCC Jr. on PPV. Just...so backwards. (I'm not saying any of the aforementioned three would be richly deserving PPV main events, but each is 10x better than what they're peddling for Cinco de Mayo)

Roy is wrong on that one, I love Miura, more than I like Berchelt, who I like a lot, but Miura looked like a shot fighter against a slightly more shot fighter tonight, I think Alacran destroys him at this point.

Yeah, I'd be hoping it was mercifully over with quickly.

If this were the old Miura it would be different, as his power is probably not far behind that of Berchelt and he's crazy durable (and, even more importantly, willing/able to always get up and keep fighting) - never having been embarrassed like Berchelt was in that blitz against Flores - but the version we saw tonight just gets out-muscled & out-hustled...outgunned, plain and simple.

Sadly I doubt it will be, I think it would go like his match against Uchiyama, maybe even including a similar early KD of Berchelt, but Berchelt is just too skilled for him at this point.

I chalked up the Flores KO as his Badou Jack moment, but ever since that match he's shored up his defense and resisted exchanging as much, also IIRC wasn't fighting at LW and came down for the fight? And he's just generally far bigger.

You clearly do not understand how this business works.

I understand exactly how it works; I'm laughing at the absurdity of it.
