Vargas is jacking Tomlinson's head all over the place with uppercuts, weaving his way inside through all of Tomlinson's flurries and wide hooks. Big left hook by Vargas. Tomlinson is hurt. Headbutt. Vargas cut. Timeout called by the ref. Vargas' cheek is looked at. Time in. Vargas is slashing down across the monk-do of Tomlinson with his chopping right hand inside, bracing his left shoulder against Tomlinson before teeing off. Tomlinson is taking HUGE punishment here. Left hook by Vargas. Heavy body shots by Vargas, doubling up on each one. Double right uppercut, double left hook. Tomlinson is getting battered and finally staggers away from Vargas, across the ring, in a daze. Vargas closes in and Tomlinson starts to lean in and scrabble for position, bringing down overhands with all his might and working light uppercuts on the body. Tomlinson has nothing on his punches, but he's trying.

Round 4

Vargas is clipping Tomlinson with everything in duplicate - pairs of short looping rights into the left ear, then pairs of right uppercuts on the obliques, then double jabs on the face and pairs of uppercuts on the bottom of the chin, snapping Tomlinson's neck. Tomlinson is waving in with the left hook, falling against Vargas and pumping in right uppercuts on Vargas' chest. Tomlinson is fighting his guts out. Vargas seems to be taking a breather, standing outside and watching, forming his guard. Tomlinson whacks down with a heavy right hand and manages to pass Vargas' glove with it, grazing his eye socket. Vargas wakes up and starts to lay a steady jab on Tomlinson. They move in close and it becomes a brutal exchange of body punches with Vargas again getting the best of it. Vargas is stalking now as Tomlinson begins to change tact and box on the outside, galloping around the ring, spiraling beyond Vargas' reach, then popping in on deeply bent knees with light jabs on the body. Time out, cut on Tomlinson checked. Time in. Tomlinson puts Vargas in a headlock and pushes down on him.

I can't believe Tomlinson has made it four without even going down, given some of the punches he's taking. (and Vargas is no powder-puff)

 

Round 5

Vargas is attacking the body, getting a bit wild now. Tomlinson is actually the more composed, jabbing and chopping at Vargas' face on the backfoot and then dropping his weight atop Vargas as he ties up and stalls. Effective jab-n-grab by Tomlinson. Vargas is diving in spraying leather at Tomlinson's body, not reaching. Fairly even round two minutes in. Vargas starts to relax and threads in a right hand while Tomlinson misses a jab and uppercut combo stepping in from too far out. Vargas is jabbing Tomlinson hard in the face while turning his own head to slip the counter jab, then falling back into a crouch. Double left hook by Tomlinson, body to head.
