Botha is back on March 31 taking on France-based Cameroonian Carlos Takam (24-1) over 12 rounds. I believe the fight is for Takam's WBO Africa title. Takam is ranked #8 by the WBO. Takam's best win to date was a 6th round stoppage on Gbenka Oloukun in April 2011. His only loss was a narrow 8 round points defeat to Gregory Tony in 2009. Thoughts? Botha has been brought in at short notice as a replacement for an obscure Ghanaian named John Napari, whose record consisted of about a dozen wins over absolute cans. I reckon Takam's team took note of Botha tiring against Michael Grant and believe Takam can make a name for himself by beating an ageing "name" at short notice. As for Takam, has anyone seen him fight? Can he go on to become a decent B level heavyweight? He's 31 so he should have a few years left in him if he is a decent fighter.
If he lost to Tony, he probably won't be much of a threat to Francois... Tony got mauled by Helenius and Perez. And if I say mauled, I mean exactly that!
That Botha is getting a fight against a highly ABC ranked contender is bad enough, that Takam is #8 is even worse, who the f*ck has he beaten? atsch
Tony is a decent fighter when he wants to be, but he doesn't always perform at 100% as he's primarily a kickboxer. He pretty much threw Prizefighter as he had a fight against kickboxing ATG Badr Hari a few days later. I reckon Takam wins this. If it were over 8 or even 10 rounds I would back Botha, but Botha at short notice does not have the stamina for 12, as he showed against Grant. Botha's best chance of winning is trying to take Takam out early. To be fair he has beaten Oloukun who is no worse than any of Boytsov's opponents, yet people still see fit to hype up Boytsov all the time.
