seen the deadly left hand of sanders in a few of his fights. havent bothered watching botha. how would this one go? good fight to watch? and a nice domestic clash.
I think that Corrie Sanders beat Botha four times in the amateurs. CS could have been the best of them all. He had amazing natural talent but he just didn't care. He hated to train. Wlad had the misfortune to run into him the one time in his life that he bothered to get himself into peak condition.
Botha was a better pro. Who cares what happened in a four round amatuer fight. Botha wins over the course.
Sanders had special talent, yes. Largely wasted talent, sure. And I think he wins this. By the way, who did Botha beat that was better than Wlad, Cooper, Czyz, Purrity, Sprott? How does he have a better pro career?
It's fashionable to bash Sanders as a big, fat golf playing part time boxer, and much of the bashing is true, but really..his stellar accomplishment was ko'ing Wlad, and nothing the also fat South African has done can even remotely compare with that. Sanders hurts Botha early..of course..and decks him in the first...finishes him off with a tko in the second.
Not read no book i'm just against the viewpoint he was anything special. Ofcourse he was better than botha, and would have destroyed him, but he never had what it took to be great imo.
You all need to watch Sanders against Lane and his other early fights. He is an impressive counter puncher with skills and movement.. And he had hand speed for such a big guy. Totally unlike the guy that fought The Klitschkos. Botha is garbage compared to a prime Sanders. Sanders by early knockout
Sanders' hand speed was amazing. He was smacking Rahman around like a rag doll, until he totally ran out of steam. He later admitted he did zero running to train for that fight. He said he didn't run because his foot was hurt. In his final comeback fight he was doing the same to his South African opponent - until he got lightly tapped in his belly, upon which he fell to the floor. I'm sure he didn't do so much as one single situp to train for that fight. He only trained his elbow, bending it.
I still wouldn't exactly say he was in shape for Rahman though even though he was exploiting Rahman's defensive flaws with his speed. Sanders was definitely a waste of talent
